Coaching News and Rumors

:miami:
Brett McMurphy of Action Network HQ tweeted that Miami’s push to hire Mario Cristobal has become very chaotic. A multitude of boosters, donors, and board members have purportedly now gotten involved. “Everybody is in charge, and Nobody is in charge.”

So you thought we were the only ones with that sort of problem …
Chop, I feel a lot better now, thanks.:hookem:

OU melting down over news/rumors of more OU coaches moving with Riley to Southern Cal.
I think we may just be left with the former players. And, I'm OK with that. He's taken all of the ones I want to see go. Bendebaugh is the one that I think we should try to keep. That's it other than the ones that have been there pre-Riley.

Yeah, you're right. Nobody called for it. I just did it on my own initiative.

(and no horses or sooners were hurt in the making of that momentous photo)

It happened in 1994 when Schnellenberger was coach also. At the time one of the pictures had an image of the bottom of the trailer. One of the sayings painted on the bottom was "Tuck Fexas". I've looked and looked but can't find it.

I'm sure he'll point to being closer to family as the reason for the move and that may be true. Clearly there is an opportunity given how poorly all the Florida teams have been in recent year to seize the pole position. I'm certain Cristobal will miss the bounty of resources he enjoyed at Oregon. Of course, how often does he need a private plane in Miami? Talent there is simply a stones throw away.

Question for you, OUBubba - how's the relationship between Bob Stoops and Venables? Any hard feelings from Venables's departure as DC during the Stoops era?

I think they have an outstanding relationship. Venables wasn't let go. He left on his own. I think he thought Mike had the inside path to the head coach track.

So who will coach Oregon, now that Mario Cristobal has bolted for Miami?
(some of these are clearly long shots...)

- Campbell (ISU)
- Kilani Sitake (BYU)
- Dave Aranda (Baylor)
- Tony Elliott (Clemson OC)
- Chip Kelly (UCLA)
- Mike Elko (aTm DC)
- Andy Avalos (Boise State)
- Harsin (Auburn)
- Dan Lanning (Georgia DC and a stoner from BeijingHorn's high school :smokin:)
- Justin Wilcox (Cal)
- Jeff Tedford
- Chris Petersen

He was my fave of the reasonable options thrown out there. That guy is awesome. Kyle Whittingham is the one that I didn't hear mentioned that I thought should have been thought about.

Dave Aranda would be my pick, if I was Phil Knight.

"This IS my happy face."

Aranda is a West Coast guy with former stints in Cal Lutheran, Hawaii, Southern Utah and Utah St. It would make sense that Oregon look at him. He's probably the hottest name remaining too and they are the biggest fish left looking for a coach.

And he's already used to some pretty stupid alternate unis.
