CFP Peach Bowl Game Thread - Horns vs ASU

It's GREAT to be a Final 4 team again because we ALL know where this program was 5/10 years ago ( see basketball).

I ALSO LOVE everything about Sark .... but the elephant in the room is "why" Texas and Specifically Sark can't "put teams away" , " put foot on throat"... it's sooooooo weird!

That game should have ended late in first half!!!

And for the last 20
Years, what is our obsession with blocking punts? It's cost us wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy more in penalties and game momentum than perhaps (2) positive outcomes in.....Fing years!!!!!

Can someone give Malik Mohammad some LOVE! He's not a part of the "Austin Fraternity ".... but he sure as hell is part of the South Oak Cliff fraternity of State Champions!

Dude might have won this game for us!

Truth!

I thought it was a textbook case of targeting. However, a high school referee friend of mine explained it this way:

1. The ball was tipped which eliminates the defenseless receiver rule.
2. The DB never ducked his head and made contact with his facemask and not the crown of his helmet.
I said no crown of the helmet before they said it wasn't targeting.

I admire the way Cam Skattebo played, but did anyone else think he looked like a colossal douche every time they showed his face?

‪Texas has the BEST defense in the country!!!!

‪They missed a big targeting on ASU as well.......Go back and watch 4th & 13 with EVERYTHING on the line....Ewers threw a DIME‬

I'm hoping 4th and 13 will be Vince 4th and 18 at Kansas!!!!

Just hoping!!!!

So.... Me and my better 1/2 sitting with lovely couple from Northern California tonight whose sons ( they were very good football players) played little league and high school with Cam Skattabo . They said he was "incredible" his entire youth and from the jump

but....

Said "he and his white trash famiky were the worse people on planet earth" ....👀👀👀👀👀👀

Just reporting!

What is targeting in college football?

Targeting, in a nutshell, is helmet-to-helmet contact created by launching at a player.

Per the rulebook, a few examples of targeting are as follows:

  • Launch-a player leaving his feet to attack an opponent by an upward and forward thrust of the body to make forcible contact in the head or neck area
  • A crouch followed by an upward and forward thrust to attack with forcible contact at the head or neck area, even though one or both feet are still on the ground
    • Leading with helmet, shoulder, forearm, fist, hand or elbow to attack with forcible contact at the head or neck area
    • Lowering the head before attacking by initiating forcible contact with the crown of the helmet
  • Taaffe's lid certainly made contact with Stovall's helmet. But the typical tenets of targeting — the launch, the crouch, the lowering of the head — weren't quite as easy to spot. That might've been the Longhorns' defensive back's saving grace.

From the NCAA site via The Sporting News.
The real explanation: BOMC!

And, there was no intentionality. As I understand the rule, at least.

Whatever happened to “SEC! SEC! SEC!”? Guess they were sorely disappointed with the final outcome of the game.
Besides Texas, I have lived at least 2 years in Hawaii. California, Montana, New Mexico, Colorado, Vermont, Massachusetts, and Florida. It was a real education on the hate for the State Of Texas.

Most people around the country, including SEC fans, feel inferior and therefore hate the State of Texas, and the Longhorns.

This inferiority complex is the exact reaction most have to Westlake in the AISD and surrounding Central Texas area.

Sadly, in general, Human Beings are petty and jealous little creatures

I’m reminded of the song, “ When You’re In Love With a Beautiful Women.” As Longhorns, we go it alone.

I think I have figured out that was the domain of the Miss States, Aggys, ole misses, mizzoos, and kentuckys of the conference.

You know, the bridesmaids, never the brides of the conference. Or better yet the prison ******* who get a sense of self worth by being Bama’s or Georgia’s or LSU’s ***** every year.

it’s like Stockholm syndrome. Now that we’re in the conference it will be interesting to see if that continues. Or if they start to resent having too many abusers passing them around

How do I half agree and half disagree?

That punt block was a fantastic call imo. Execute execute execute

So much for SEC, SEC, SEC unity. Not anymore, since TEXAS became the new $heriff in the SEC.

GA knows UT is the new Daddy of the SEC and they hate us like Bama and the others.

With no due respect to GA fans overreacting to our struggles today: fornicate yourselves.

Get used to UT and why Nebraska left the Big 12.

Not yet. They beat us twice this year.

Just checked the internets and the the huge consensus is that we should have been flagged for targeting. There's not anywhere near the analysis on Cam's offensive pass interference flag that went against us or the non-call on the crushing target on a defenseless Bond.

:nd::uga:
What do you get when you mix the Irish with Georgia....?

Or the pulling of the jersey on Wingo right in front of the side judge. Or the illegal pull-through of Skat for his TD. Or….th list goes on.

The game is refereed by humans who miss a lot of things throughout the game. It always appears that there’s a conspiracy against your team, though.

It’s part of the game. Always has been. Always will be. Control what you can control and react appropriately when adversity strikes and you’ll likely be OK. Whine and moan about it, you look like a spoiled 3rd grader who didn’t get their way (go see aggy boards - they’re beside themselves about the Horns victory due to the BOMC - they’re beside last ok like a bunch of milk men doing weird dances and chants).

Wait…

4th and 13 I'm just telling myself to try to appreciate the season we've had, even though I'm also thinking, my god, this is one of the biggest choke jobs I've ever seen. Then.....KABOOM! Touchdown. And we're still alive. I couldn't believe it! Ewers wasn't perfect today. But he carried this team to victory. No run game at all. It was all on him. And he came through. Kudos to Quinn!

Just watched the SEC Football Final replay from last night. Sark said they practiced that exact play against the exact defense last week. He said for Quinn to be so calm to recognize the defense and recall and audible to that play in that high pressure of a situation is amazing.

I give Quinn a lot of **** for mistakes he makes, but to be able to do that is very unique and elite.

He was - no doubt. And he lived up to his cocksure pre-game mouthiness, but he paid a price along the way. He keeps running like that he’s gonna be a CTE patient before long.
Yeah. Scattebo is real good, but they're over-using him.

It's the old Earl left, Earl right, Earl up the middle offense. Even moreso with the Oilers than with the Horns.
