Big 12 Championship Game Thread 2023

Love this. Never, I mean never thought we’d be here at the start of season. There have been too many disappointments I have lived through over the past many years. CFP or not I’m happy with this team.
I picked us 11-1 at the beginning of the season. Others also. Not a big surprise. But that doesn't mean it's not delightful.

There has never been a year with so many power 5 champions who are undefeated or have 1-loss. That changes everything. Georgia will fall behind every team that meets that description, but stay above everyone else — which is how it has always happened.
That’s in fact never how it’s happened.

Bring me the head of Alfredo Garcia.
I wondered the same thing. The big12 commish is such a classless POS. I dont mind the booing of that corksucker. Nothing takes away from this win or the beat down of tech. yorbish or whatever his name is can go suck it. He is getting paid plenty so other than a colossal embarrassment for him, no harm as his pay still keeps coming.

The Halftime talkers made the point that Texas belongs BUT also wondered How the committee could keep a SEC team out since SEC has won all but one.
Altho one did say If Louisville wins that would solve it all

Just wrapped things up in Arlington. Sat around and talked to a bunch of friends afterwards. Thoughts:
  • It was kind of a similar atmosphere to the Tech game.
  • That opening missed penalty on Brooks kind of set the tone for the rest of the game. Poke fans went nuts whenever there was a perceived missed penalty (even though they only had 3 all game). It was a shame that the Brooks missed PI happened so early, because it didn't matter. We were dominant.
  • That first TD drive and the easy toss to Sweat were the "yeah this is ours so just lay down" signal. They couldn't do **** to slow us down.
  • I heard from multiple OK State fans near us the same stupid schtick: "you all would be in trouble if Ollie was healthy blah blah blah." Just a dumb fan base. I don't care how cool Eskimo Joe's is. These people are on the same notch as Tech fans... ignorant to actual football.
  • The worry about injuries to Worthy and Ewers was a bigger deal than the outcome of the game.

Was a watch party. Epic party! We booed the Commish but felt a little sorry for him when his hands were shaking and voice cracked. Coach Garcia was straight class :hookem:

Ewers is fine. Said x-rays on Worthy are negative. If so he'll be fine in a month.

Guess they overlooked how we held ISU and Tech stud backs to piddly rushing yards. :hookem:

It didn’t make a damn if they had Stan laurel as running back. Ollie knew when to get hurt to save his life!!

The postgame talkers said the best case for Texas is a Georgia win and Florida State loss. Sounds familiar.

Georgia is out. Period. Texas is in unless fl st destroys Louisville. If that happens there will be a discussion between Texas, Al. And fl st.

… the defending national champion, who has been ranked #1 or #2 all season, and lost in their conference championship. You go and argue that for us. What I’ll do is just root for Georgia.
They played a terrible schedule in the SEC east.
