Big 12 Championship Game Thread 2023

No. Of course he wants Alabama to win. Our clearest path into the playoff is a Georgia win and a Florida State loss. Then there is no controversy. No drama.
Why would the committee pick one loss GA over Texas after today’s game?

What you said doesn’t discount the Bama win option for Texas in case FSU wins. Why is this so hard to understand?

I mean if we had our wishes, why not go back in time and wish for a win against OU?

If Alabama wins Georgia will not fall below us.
I believe they will (fall behind us),
I agree with Dukesteer, other than the "I believe" part. There is no chance in hell Georgia stays ahead of us if they lose. They would have the same record as us, but a weaker SOS, no conference championship, and a worse record against the only common opponent. I have not seen a single talking head suggesting that that is even a possibility.

The only chance Georgia loses but still gets in is if Michigan and FSU both lose. In that unlikely scenario, the seedings would probably be 1 Washington 2 Texas 3 Alabama 4 Georgia.

Hey y’all. I’m fired up about our win but we still need help. I just want to reiterate: if we want to avoid a drama free selection tomorrow, then we want Georgia to win and Florida State to lose. I know there are a bunch of folks still talking about Alabama, but we need them to lose. If Alabama wins Georgia will not fall below us.
This makes no sense. The committee is supposed to favor conference champs over 2nd place finishers.

This is tiresome. You go ahead and root for Alabama for some strange persistent reason and see what happens during the selection tomorrow. You must love drama. Go to Grapwvine and convince the committee that our conference championship is better than beingveankef

… the defending national champion, who has been ranked #1 or #2 all season, and lost in their conference championship. You go and argue that for us. What I’ll do is just root for Georgia.

Hope we are in the final four, but am thrilled to be back in the national conversation without the expectation that we will choke somewhere along the way. Phew, it's been years. I hope the magic formula of recruiting, NIL, player camaraderie and Sark's personal and football skills keep us in the top 10 ... for years. Now let's win another, maybe 2 more this year!

No team that is ranked #1 in the championship weekend, and lost in their conference championship game, has fallen below 4. You can believe whatever you want, but that is a hard fact. Go Georgia!
There has never been a year with so many power 5 champions who are undefeated or have 1-loss. That changes everything. Georgia will fall behind every team that meets that description, but stay above everyone else — which is how it has always happened.

I think it may all come down to that game in Tuscaloosa on September 9th.

IMO Georgia doesn’t go in over Alabama if Alabama beats them, and Alabama doesn’t go in over Texas. It could have been an issue, had we not decisively taken care of business the last three weeks. To me, that has changed the narrative.

Korie Black got injured in the B12 CG. If he's planning to transfer, hope it's not serious.

You definitely deserve an award of some kind. You were consistent.
We need to look in aggy trophy case. I am sure there is something to in there that will work.:coolnana:

I’m very torn on this. The committee has thought that Georgia was the best team all year. In most years I think they get in with a loss today and I’ve been thinking they could still stay in with a loss, but after Texas stomping the yard today and Oregon loss along with the unique situation of so many undefeated or 1 loss championship teams, this year is likely different.
The amount of teams that kept winning atop the country is pretty unprecedented. Texas may end up having the ultimate trump card with a Bama win. It’s the one thing that has kept Texas afloat with an awful committee and Bama could certainly drag us in behind them and close the door on Georgia. Would rather see Louisville win as that is more sure path with chance for mischief. Part of me can still see them putting Georgia in regardless tho. Not as sure of that as I was last night.

Because the committee has ALWAYS chosen to keep the #1 team in the playoff if they lose. That’s a fact.
so,
each year is different according to win/loss records. 3 undefeated teams and then a one loss team that beat the team that beat them.
So it's a different outcome this time.

This season has been unusual with so many very very close games and multiple escapes. Additionally, the margin of error with respect to the teams to be chosen is razor thin, closer than in any year we have seen yet IMO.

Correct. TCU lost last year and the crop was so dull they couldn’t find anyone to slide in behind them. They tried to find any team, but none good enough. Not so now

ideally I'd like to see the Horns knock off Georgia in the natty
changing of the guard
Here’s my dream scenario:
Georgia, Michigan, and Fla State all lose their CCGs. Seedings are 1 Washington 2 Texas 3 Alabama 4 Georgia. We beat Bama in the semis and Georgia in the final.
