I’m a definite maybe depending on the date selected. Midweek works best for me, but seems like everyone else is a weekend type.

OK, I've been challanged.

Lookin' further ahead on a calendar y'all... for next possible DFW HF tailgate at Tolbert's in Grapevine. Friday August 23 or Sat. Aug. 24.

I'm opposed to Sat. night as many posters may have other commitments and will not show up.

However, @Texanne - if we were to choose Sat. night Aug. 24, can you commit to be there? Maybe bring ShadowDancer? Perhaps that draws other posters?

Suggestion is, this is the weekend BEFORE Labor Day, plus CSU kickoff on Sat.

Informal poll for the rest of you rascals...

How many of you BELIEVE you would attend August tailgate and which night!?

We ain't doin' this if only 3-4 of you commit here or to me on private IM over the next few weeks.

Some of you are great posters that have never attended. We would like to meet you personally and you to join us and talk some serious UT - hmmm, SEC football.

What say you?
Saturday definitely works for me, and I’ll commit. ShadowDancer is a no-go. He gets precious little PTO as it is, and his work is shorthanded.

So, boyzo, I’ll be there — assuming it’s on Saturday— unless God has other plans for me.

I believe we should have the HF tailgate Sat. AUG. 24, @ Tolbert's in Grapevine TX - "You know the thing" - to better accommodate our out-of-town posters.

You DFW locals need to give up your Sat. night gambling at Winstar or an evening with the CampTown Ladies in the FW Stockyards and be at our tailgate!!!

Horns open a week later vs CSU!!! :ut::csu:

Get to the tailgate and fire up!!!

Blazing Saddles - Sheriff Bart: “De Camptown Ladies?”

I did like the political reference. "You know the thing"

I will probably be there. Need to check on a few things in Rock Ridge.

Can someone recommend a decent, not-too-expensive hotel?

All the hotels in that area down to Irving & Las Colinas are still charging that damn "covid tax" to make up for the money they lost during the scamdemic. That jacks the prices of the midrange to cheaper hotels up.

Avoid the Courtyard Las Colinas. Worst Marriott property I've ever been in including their two dumps in Beaumont. On the other hand, you can stay there, complain to corporate and they'll refund you money.

I’ll be there.

I just hope it doesn’t devolve into a night of political ********.

Texanne,

I don't recall any table discussions of politics from past tailgates. Maybe a snarky statement here or there. Mostly HF, sports topics, our lives away from HF, fun stuff....

Re: hotels. Use some sites like Trivago to see what is out there and rates. Try Grapevine, Flower Mound, Coppell, areas. Sabre is right Las Colinas - Irving may be more pricey.

Wait a minute! People have "lives away from HF"?

I've found that Courtyards are generally pretty bad. Won't stay in one.

Look for a Fairfield or an Aloft.
