AP Poll

the committee remembers. That's the only reason we are ranked ahead of Alabama. Oregon just looks better. our strength of record/schedule doesn't matter to them as much as the eye test.

Bo Nix would shred our defense on a neutral field.

Perhaps Oregon looks better because they aren't playing ranked teams like we are. Remember when Oregon needed a FG in the last 70 seconds to beat Tech?

in the 2nd game of the season.

We haven't done that great against unranked teams either.
actually we manhandled unranked/ranked teams for the most part. some scored late to make it look close. we just didn't look as flashy.
Hoping for a flashy win this Friday.

It does seem like Bo Nix would shred our defense. We would have to all of a sudden learn how to play some mean tough man to man defense to prevent that.

One would think so. They’re averaging 46.5 pounds/game, but they have played some weak teams.

Could they get to their average against us. I doubt it. Maybe 35. Perhaps less. The key would be our ability to score. Interestingly, one of our highest outputs of the year was against perhaps the best defense we faced, in the toughest environment, Tuscaloosa. So I don’t believe Oregon would blow us out.

Isn't it great to be calculating scenarios where we might be in the CFP? That we're 10-1? How long has it been? And count me among those who think that this is not just a flash in the pan. I believe in what Sark is building here and am optimistic that this will be just the first of many end of the season discussions about where in the top 10 we are, and should be. We have not "crushed" our opponents but, save the OU game, we did what we needed to win. This has been a fun season!.

Playoff hopes were dashed when Sark and Ewers were absent 1st half against Iowa St. Like it, don’t like it fair or not fair. Can’t put up 6 in a half and not expect anyone to notice

Ohio State 6, Texas 7 in both AP and Coaches' Polls

Of the top 10 in both polls, Georgia, Texas and Alabama were the only ones to remain static in the ratings. Others went up or down.

While Tech is not a top 25 team, a 50-point win should have moved the needle. Didn't happen.

Will beating #19 Oklahoma State on Saturday help Texas? IMO, not really. MAY go to #6 depending on the final score and the outcome of other games. Only four open spots for the CFP.

Texas will get the Fiesta, Sugar, etc., but no CFP this year. Weird, I am disappointed, yet happy.

I hope my assessment is wrong.

No way that should happen. Ohio State's schedule is dog sh!t. They're not even going to their conference's championship game.
Not sure we are better than tosu but losing late should have more impact. Just the way it goes. Dont see anyway that we can get into the top 4 but its good to be in the discussion again.

There’s a metric called strength of schedule. Texas is better than tOSU on this metric. Why ignore obvious evidence? I don’t understand the fatalism.

The committee doesn’t make independent decisions. You guys are clueless.

Ok, this took an odd turn. It was my opinion based on the fact that the committee is made up of people. People sometimes make the wrong decisions. Please educate the unwashed and uneducated.

I’ve been involved in 2-3 deals worth $1b. Your concept of how the CFP is decided couldn’t be more wrong.

Call me not worried at this point. I’ll add that tOSU is not really our concern. No way Ohio State goes ahead of a conference champion if it even comes down to that.

Go to an OSU article - there is zero mention of CFP.

This is the same thinking that leads one to think that Vegas doesn’t have sources within every P5 program regarding injuries and the like.

I only hope that Texas wins and FSU loses for us to find out !

Yeah, hard to see a 1 loss OSU team, not a conference champion, getting a spot over either Texas or Oregon or even Alabama, also with 1 loss and a conference title.

Personally, I'd require a conference title for entrance into the playoffs. I know a couple of years ago Georgia lost to Alabama in the SEC game but then beat them in the title game, but that just reduced the interest and importance of the SEC game, as Georgia knew they were in the playoffs win or lose.

But that's all a dream now that the playoffs are going to 8 or 12 or 64 teams or whatever it is. How long till coaches just mail in the conference title game with backups to avoid injuries, as with basketball conference touraments?
