2024 Recruiting - WBB

Based on her current IG story, Adhel Tac is shown sitting in the Ferrell Center stands. Guess she visited Baylor today.

I don't know if we've offered Ariana Roberson yet (she doesn't show us as one of the offers on her twitter feed, but she has taken unofficials to Texas), but many many other P5 programs have. And she just led SA Clark what is probably its first State Championship ever, and did so in the 6A Division against powerhouse DeSoto, avenging last years' lost to them in the semis. Ariana went off for 24 points, 15 rebounds, 4 blocks and 3 steals tonight at the Alamodome and was named MVP. She's a great defender. I really hope we offer. Comes from a great hoops family. Here's some highlights from the local news:

Looks like she was named MVP.

When I looked at Arianna's twitter page last week, I saw nothing that indicated Texas had offered, or that she'd taken an unofficial visit to Texas this school year. She could have, I just don't recall her publicizing it on social media or anyone having confirmed seeing her in attendance. If her last official visit was prior to this school year, then I'm guessing we're not recruiting her.

I really like Roberson's length, wingspan, and ability to run the floor. She kind of reminds me of Amina Muhammad but with a more polished offensive skill set. I wish we were recruiting her, but I don't get the feeling we are (based on social media).

She's very agile for her size and has a nice skill set. Maybe we'll pick up on recruiting her.

Per her Twitter feed, her first offer came in 7/21 from Lamar.
Since then (in order): UTSA, OU, TxTech, K-State, TCU (sister is a Fr. there now), GA Tech, Okie State, Iowa St, Arizona, Kentucky, Miss. St., USC, Georgetown, Rice, Oregon, SMU, Harvard, Utah, Indiana, Tennessee, Washington, Alabama. Expect a bunch more offers after March. The closest mention on her Twitter feed to Texas was when she camped with us in the summer of 2021 (she appears to have grown since then):

I stopped in on Madison Booker’s Instagram live in which she had KK Arnold from UConn, Jaloni Cambridge and her sister who recently entered the portal and they all were saying Cambridge is basically a lock for Ole Miss with Georgia being a close 2nd. Of course it’s just an instagram live but I’m sure it has some truth to it.

Good find. If those are her preferences, she may be more about the personality of the coach (or maybe a preference for those schools) than the proven results on the court. I expect Vic will fill the need for good PGs (or more likely, good CG's) in '24 through the portal, if those persons aren't already on the roster. He often says he's getting too old to wait around for championships, so I think he really likes the portal now. Also, ironically enough, great players that don't start off at schools that are more likely to compete for championships seem to be the ones more likely to want to portal out to schools who do compete for championships later.

Coach Lindsay Wisdom-Hylton started following 6'3 Forward, Vivian Iwuchukwu out of Montverde Academy in Florida (previously attended San Antonio Cole). That's the first time I've seen any kind of interest in her from our coaching staff, unless I missed it.

Blair Schaefer started following 6'3 Arianna Roberson out of state champion San Antonio Clark on Instagram, and vice versa. Hope we're not too late (with our interest).

What is interesting about this is that Roberson's AAU team was nowhere near Virginia or PA this weekend (where the Texas coaches were). She played in the Heart of Texas showcase. So this interest was shown without recently seeing her live.

Based on social media activity, I'm fairly sure Sydney was in Dallas (Shaylee definitely was). I know there were some proposals to adjust recruiting restrictions but the fact she wasn't included in the twitter travel announcements, I'd guess Sydney was there in an "unofficial" capacity relaying information back to Vic.

I know the portal is important but we have a top talent in '24 class with Justice Carlton and the same can be said for '25 Aaliyah Chavez right here in the state. Both were seen in the Moody Center a number of times. We need to make those happen.

My wishlist for the 2024 class is..

1. Adhel Tac
2. Justice Carlton
3. Jaloni Cambridge
3. Taliyah Parker

Carlton and Tac are my two big pieces that we must get. I think Cambridge is Ole Miss bound so I’m not too worried. Would love to get her but we still have Chavez in play. Definitely need to get one or the other though.

Did she put something out on social media about that? I didn't see anything on her twitter or Instagram accounts.
I just saw cfelitesports IG account has a copy of the story that Justice will announce her Top 5 schools Friday at 6 PM Central.

I'm gonna guess: Arizona, Baylor, Duke, LSU, and Texas

Justice Carlton will be announcing her top 5 schools tomorrow. I’m sure Texas will make the cut.
I see that both Blair and Lovato have a couple of stories (stats & vid clips) of Carlton poster earlier today on their Instagram accounts; gonna assume they were given some good news from Justice that Texas made the cut.

I got 3 out of 5. No Baylor or Duke. UConn and South Carolina round out the Top 5

Didn't seem like our coaches were pursuing her (too hard)
