OL DeAndre Carter of Santa Ana, CA on Texas (from On3):

“It just exceeded my expectations,” Carter told On3. “I know they’re a great program, but it just exceeded my expectations.”

“He’s (Coach Flood) very energetic,” Carter said of Flood. “There were a lot of us there during the Junior Day, so he had a big room… We were watching film and learning technique and all that. I like how he teaches.”

IT had a write-up on OL Daniel Calhoun of Marietta, GA and said he spent a lot of time with OL Kelvin Banks yesterday.

Even though his father played at Alabama, they believe Georgia is the primary competition and Texas isn't just a name in this race with Coach Choice and Coach Flood leading the charge.

He'll be back for the big official visit weekend in June.

“What really stands out is they are developers of talent,” Calhoun told Inside Texas Saturday. “Coach (Kyle) Flood develops offensive lineman. Coach (Tashard) Choice knows offensive linemen too having played running back, and develops his players.”

“Most definitely. Seeing that he (Banks) started as a freshman helps Texas. They are developing their players.”

“The fan support was really good. Better than last year. I got in late in April, so I had more time this visit. Texas has a really good program and a good team. They are very high on my board.”

Quotes from RB Jerrick Gibson and his father on their experience in Austin, per 247:

“I saw some new things there and the progress the team has made with the chemistry, how far they’re going to get,” Gibson said. Texas is the current 247Sports Crystal Ball favorite with Miami, Georgia, Tennessee, Florida and Alabama a few others he’s keeping a keen eye on.

“Just the team chemistry everyone is having, all the talent they have as a whole with their whole team and coaching staff,” Gibson added regarding the Longhorns.

“Getting around them again, them just showing me how they are and Coach Choice he’s got electric energy,” Gibson said. “Just being around him with him showing me the running backs and everything it was fun.”

“Amazing, amazing,” Victor Jenkins said of the experience.

“Oh man when Jerrick went to experience the pregame, I went with one of the coaches and did the tailgate and when I said it was second to none it was oh my God. I mean it’s literally like a fair out there. They got a Ferris wheel and everything. It was something I never experienced. Not even the Florida-Georgia tailgate is better than that."

“It was a great experience.”

Per IT, Coach Flood is expected at Copperas Cove today to follow up with OL Michael Uini.

He does not have an official visit scheduled yet, and Texas continuing to pursue him is contingent upon that happening.

The staff is open to bringing him in during the fall, and he has three visits set up already.
