Yea. Was at that game. These times in the 40 are sometimes made to be too big of a deal. I knew a kid who won state as a wishbone quarterbackDon't know the Bruce kid, but Jerry Gray may be our best safety of all time and he never broke 4.6 in the 40. Ask Bo Jackson about people that run a 4.6
and he had a very fast backfield . I ask his coach who was fastest on the team and he said the quarterback and when I ask what his time was he said 4.6. With the low speeds of the day I questioned some that backfield and they all claimed to be under were 4.6.
A few years ago I ran into the qback and ask if he was the fastest on the team. He said the others would not race him. He had a standing invitation but nobody would take it.
Grass, track (good track), wind, track shoes, good clock (operator) and other factors make for different times. Back in the day we used to run the 50 in the mid -5’s, but I only new one who ran three 5.5’s in one day. The others got one good post and talked about it the rest of our lives.
4.6 is good enough for most football players. It is fast.
