2024 Recruiting - Football

Quotes from Weedon via IT.

His head coach and LBs coach made the trip to Austin with him.

“It was great,” Weedon told Inside Texas. “I loved everything, the city of Austin, the university and the program. I have talked to Coach Choate ever since Coach PK offered me. Coach Choate was just breaking down how they run the program, and what to expect, and how I would fit into the defense.”

“I talked with Keilan Robinson,” Weedon said. “He was just telling me it was a great city to go to college. And a great city and college for networking. And the city was great. The people were nice. They showed me the networking possibilities.”

“They said the date they want to me in is June 16-18,” Weedon said. “We are working on getting that locked in.”

Noah Carter, Centennial, Edge

Carter gave a few quotes to On3:

“They really like my speed coming off the edge,” Carter told On3. “I definitely got that vibe that they want me. I’m definitely going to be back this summer.”

“I got a warm welcome there,” said Carter, the No. 211 overall prospect and No. 19 EDGE in the 2024 On300. “It was just good vibes with each coach. They were telling me how it is to be a football player at the University of Texas.”

“I’ve heard that everything’s bigger in Texas, so I expected that going in,” Carter said. “It definitely met that expectation. It was a huge campus, huge facility, huge everything.”

“He (Bijan Robinson) told me he was from Tucson,” Carter said. “It was actually great seeing him and I just wished him luck on his adventure to the NFL.”

“He just said, ‘Texas is the place to be’ and that it’s good over there and it’s a good program,” he added. “He said that it will make me better every day, make me a better football player.”

“It was great,” Carter said. “The people out there are very welcoming. It’s just good vibes out there. Downtown was great, the campus was great. It was definitely a warm, chill vibe ".

IT had a cool story today on five-star OL Brandon Baker and the familly of DE Tausili Akana.

Akana's mother was in the player's lounge before the spring game and noticed that Baker's mother looked Polynesian, so she walked over and started a conversation.

Turns out the ladies are first cousins and the families spent a good portion of the day getting to know each other.

Baker is LDS but won't take a two-year mission, and this newfound relationship should help Texas a lot.

PJ Woodland, Oak Grove, Cornerback

Hw was on campus recently.
He just scheduled an official visit to Texas for June 17th, per IT, and he's being recruited at CB by Coach Davis and Coach Joseph.

“I went to Texas and it was pretty good,” Woodland told On’s Sam Speigelman. “I met with Coach Bo (Davis). It was pretty good and we chopped it up a little bit. I like Texas. It’s different … and really different from Mississippi.”

Good for Nebraska....kinda hoping they return to higher status among NCAA football
Not sure why some folks dont like this position. Nebraska has nothing to do with Texas and we are off to the SEC next year. I too hope they have success. Casey's last year there and Rhule can coach so I hope its a great year for CT!!

Nebraska just leaves a bad taste in my mouth from bygone years and secondly if they get too good they may steal texas recruits.
