2024 Recruiting - Football

Not sure why some folks dont like this position. Nebraska has nothing to do with Texas and we are off to the SEC next year. I too hope they have success. Casey's last year there and Rhule can coach so I hope its a great year for CT!!
They rival aggy & tceh at being whiney-@$$ biatches. EVERY problem in/with their program was/is Texas' fault. I actually liked nu at 1st when we were conference mates. Having lived with their whiney azzez for a decade +...not so much. For all I care that program can e.s.f.o.&d.

This is interesting considering Johnson was one Deion's earlier commitments, and I believe he was in Boulder over the weekend for their spring game.

Texas offered as an ATH.

Anyone here think Deion will be successful at CU within a few years (say, winning 8+ games)?

They won 10 games in 2016, lost in the Alamo Bowl. Haven't come close to that since 2004 (8-5 record).

On the plus side, Deion is going to swap UCLA & USC on the schedule for Fresno State and Northern Arizona, which should mean two less losses and two more wins. A renewal of the true hatred between CU & the children of the corn would be great, but not likely.

His recruiting will likely peak next year and begin falling off. Someone in Lincoln will find a surplus shipment of pins and poke holes in all those blowup dolls they used to make Folsom look full.

Because they have no money, Sanders will likely get another gig before the contract expires so CU won't have to pay him off.

On a positive note, I don't think Sanders is resorting to the use of hookers for recruiting, which is a "tradition" in Boulder older than most posters on this board.

Nebraska just leaves a bad taste in my mouth from bygone years and secondly if they get too good they may steal texas recruits.
Doesnt appear that Sark has the same approach as Mack who wanted to lock up Texas talent. Sark appears more of the nation wide approach. This year will be a very telling picture of where Texas is. Hoping we show some marked improvement.

Sanders is literally tearing it all down and starting over.

I’m not a Deion fan. Never have been. To me the dude has needed to be the center of attention, always and everywhere. The antithesis of humility. It’s all about him. To me that is a terrible role model.

Will he succeed at CU? No idea. I’m not pulling for him though.

well you have to have some degree of humility to speak up for Jesus especially as an influential celebrity. For that reason, and he also played for the Cowboys, he is alright with me, even though I usually don't like egotistical people. However maybe he just has a healthy self image.

Prime has been a winner on just about every gridiron he's ever stepped foot on, including two Super Bowl rings (one with my beloved Cowboys). And he's the only player to my knowledge who's played in a Super Bowl and the World Series with the '92 Braves. Who's in his athletic league? Bo Jackson and Michael Jordan come to mind as two sport stars. He has his flaws (as well all do), but he witnesses the Word and, by all accounts, molds young men on faith and unflinching personal responsibility. I hope he is an astronomical success as a coach. Time will tell.

Torito,

How could you leave out Hart Lee Dykes? Large signing bonuses from both the White Sox & the Patriots. Also one of the better announcement ceremonies in the era of that sort of thing. I always liked Hart Lee so I didn't embarrass him by asking what town Oklahoma State was in.

Lot of people out there "speaking up for Jesus" that I wouldn't want anywhere near me or my children.
So, by all means, lump anyone who believes in God in with the inevitable few of any group that are less than ideal humans.

i get not liking Deion, but let's not kid ourselves that many of the great coaches are narcissistic control freaks. they aren't St Francis by any stretch. But we respect them because they're great coaches.

IT went by Jasper today to watch LBTyanthony Smith.

“Anthony Hill, we have been talking a little bit about it,” Smith told Inside Texas Monday morning. “He loves it. He said they take care of you, and the classes are good and the football is good. All the things I really need to know about Texas.”

“Coach Sark is a cool dude,”Smith said.“He flew out here one time. Shook my hand, told me he wants me and I’m at the top of the board. I talk to Coach Choate. I’ve got to know him more. He told me how he could develop me. He’s got some real good drills. I watched them during a practice March 25 when I was there.”

Texas has got a really nice crew,”Smith said.“It wouldn’t be bad playing for Texas with your last name on the back of that burnt orange jersey. They were one of my favorite teams growing up. I’ve got mad love for Texas. I know they have a great linebacker, and I know I could be developed real well learning from some of the great linebackers at Texas.”

“So far I’ve got an official to Texas A&M June 2-4, and I’ve got USC June 16-18,”Smith said.“Then I plan on taking an official to Texas. I can’t go on June 23 because it’s a cruise (family vacation) date.”
