Generally the “student-athlete” needs to be enrolled and going to class. Thus, in the past, bowl season ended before the spring semester began. However, for the new CFP final, it most likely crosses over into the new semester.

You also have a conundrum of players who are portalling to another school but still playing in the CFP final. A player could already be enrolled in another school but playing in the CFP final for the old school.

Which is why the current window is what it is. It makes zero sense for students to portal right when the CFP is beginning, but if they don't, they miss the actual enrollment window for those new universities.

Greed is almost always short-sighted. I don't think the coaches have a lot of power but some Big Money (corporate media, lawyers/agents) and SEC and Big 1G (or whatever that weird conglomeration calls themselves) officials appear to have power. This free-for-all appears to make coaching very difficult.

A total disaster! I believe Lashlee at SMU may have said it best. Just not fair to players to put them in a situation to have to decide ...stay or go! Also not fair to most teams that continue to play! I would not want to be a coach of most or maybe any team that is having to constanltly be considering the what ifs of the shenanigans of December. Fortunantely, Horns have Sark to work through these issues. So many other programs have been hit really hard by this needless mess and probably are juggling names, positions and quite possibly having a player play a position he's never been called to play; and 1-2 have already decided not to play in their bowl game....I really like 8-12 significant bowl games (seems years ago) that awarded teams for success not 96 participation games!

Didn't Murphy commit to being hired by Kentucky? I guess that deal fell through.

I'm not sure why Murphy seemed to be the hottest QB in the portal. He's kind of immobile and made some really poor decisions with the ball. His efficiency was better in 2024 for the Blue Devils, but not to the point where I'd be throwing 6 figures at him for an NIL deal.

There is so much coming and going I cannot make sense of these moves being beneficial or noise.

I guess we will find out in the Fall.

In Sark we trust….but seeing this massive shift of talent on a daily basis and watching all of the non- CFP teams land seemingly top-end players makes me a bit nervous. Perhaps this is a way the universe is leveling the playing field through this unregulated NIL/Portal transfer Armageddon, but am I justified in my nervousness- or should I just take a chill pill cuz Sark’s got it under control and just wait until after the focuseness on the CFP is over?
