2023 Texas Rangers

Looking back, it is clear I picked a bad week to stop sniffing glue! :rolleyes1:

I was almost pulling for the Astros tonight. If we collapse we won't win the west but will be fighting for a wc spot. Boston is in that mix

Looking at the Rs schedule down the line, 7 of the last 10 games are vs Seattle. Our last week is on the road vs LAA for 3. SEA for 4. Tough finish

Seattle and Houston gifted the Rangers two losses last night - the Mariners with a bizarre error in the 10th and the Astros by pitching Graveman in the 10th.

Nice to get some help without playing a game - but the key for the Rangers is to win the games they play. Keep winning and it makes it much harder for those chasing you to catch up and overtake.

Now 11-1 in the 7th between Sox and Astros.
Watch out for the Mariners. They're on a hot streak, and their next series is against the Royals - and when that series is over, they get to feast on the A's.
Meanwhile, when the Rangers finish the series in Minnehaha, they go to NY to play a series against the Mets. Astros go to Detroit, then Boston.
Mariners definitely have a soft schedule for the next week.

Son had car trouble this evening so I only listened to some of the game on the radio.

Sounds like the bullpen gave up the lead and a bunch of runs.

Evil Twins win 7-5.

7 losses in a row!

I give up - it's time to release Smith. He can't seem to command any pitches- seems to leave one on a tee every game. Give the ball to Chapman for a save situation.

Agree on smith, he's a disaster right now

My guess on Chapman, he worked 2 innings Monday and might have needed the Xtra time off. Hoping bochy uses him as the sole closer here on out

I am not so sure about that. I would leave him as the set-up pitcher to disrupt the rhythm. That provides for a better choice of the closer.

Scherzer was nails. 7 innings. 2 runs. Struck out 10.

FINALLY!!! The skid is done.

Chapman closes the door and THE GOOD GUYS WIN!!

6-2

FWIW, rangers get several late inning runs on a bases loaded walk and 2 hit batters. Regardless I will take it!!

^Nice to see the opponents suffer a bullpen meltdown for a change. Hit batters, walks - and a sac fly. Rangers took advantage of Minnehaha mistakes in the top of the ninth. Now in a tie atop the AL West with Seattle. Unfortunately Mariners are chewing up the bottom-feeders (Kansas City and Oakland) - so the Rangers really need to win tomorrow and then take the series from the Mets in order to keep Seattle in sight.

Yup, stros and Seattle got wins today. Rangers just need a good outing from Montgomery vs Ober (6-6) and the W on Sunday.

The lowly and struggling Mets are on deck.

Hopefully that was the Annual August cliff diving Ranger exercise and this isn't a dead cat bounce and now they can get back to what they have been doing all year. 33 games left and 19 wins in those games gets the Rangers to 92 wins and likely a wild card, 22 or more wins probably wins the West.

Sunday... Heim grand slam in the 4th and the Rangers build up a 5-0 lead. Montgomery pitches well until the 6 when he puts 3 on base. Stratton comes in and on first pitch gives up a grand slam! :brickwall:

Stratton settles down and Rangers are clinging to 5-4 lead T8.

To me this is a must win....

Bullpen - the summary of the problems.
Seattle now alone in first place in the AL West. Rangers need to sweep the Mets to finish off this road trip.
