Nice to get help from the Marlins against Houston. And the Rangers got the bats to wake up and piled on the runs against the Angels. Let's get similar results on Tuesday!

Rangers get back to winning ways and they also will miss Ohtani on the mound as he is skipping his next start to rest his arm. I saw an article that said the Rangers have the tenth toughest schedule to finish while Houston and Seattle have the 26th and 27th toughest so it isnt going to come easy for Texas. Bochy is doing an absolutely hall of fame job with this team and my respect for him (that was already quite high for a three time world series winner) is now off the charts.

Tuesday (tonight): Montgomery (7-10) goes against Lucas Giolito (7-8)

Hopefully this series with LAA and Astros series with the Marlins will allow the Rangers to pick up a game or two more on the stros... good time to do it.

Read an article that ranked our rotation at #2 behind Phillies. Without Eovaldi.

Getting him back in form would be great

With Eovaldi's record I would like to think the Rangers would climb to the # 1 rotation....

Think about our starting 5 lineup with him back:

Eovaldi
Scherzer
Dunning
Gray
Montgomery

At the point Eovaldi comes back probably Heaney goes to the pen?

Perez probably stays in the pen until he gets his act together....

They have...
  1. RHP Max Scherzer
  2. LHP Jordan Montgomery
  3. RHP Jon Gray
  4. LHP Andrew Heaney
  5. RHP Dane Dunning
so it will be interesting when Eovaldi comes back for sure. if these guys are tired in the heat can you combine 2 to pitch half games?

Montgomery pitching very well so far. Through 6 he has 9 strikeouts and only given up 1 run.

4-1 Good Guys!

Seager monster solo HR in the 7th.

5-1 still B7th

Bad news is Astros 6-5 vs Marlins today.

Assuming Heaney continues to pitch at a high level, I suspect when Eovaldi comes back, Bochy may elect to go with a 6 man starting rotation including the 5 on your list. This gives everyone an extra day of rest going into the end of the regular season.

I read this morning Eovaldi is in a controlled rehab pitching program and working toward possibly starting back in the rotation around Sept. 1st.... about 2 weeks from this Friday.

Nice win last night to get to 24 games over .500. Just .500 ball the rest of the way is now 93 wins and Rangers have great chance for sweep today missing Ohtani to move that numbers game into even better territory. About two weeks out (certainly by Labor Day) from us starting to see the magic number start popping up.

I was thinking last night about everything that has gone right so far this year and it led me to reflect on something not right at the surface but important nonetheless. It is also something that that leads to an admission on my part, I was dead wrong in my belief that the Rangers didn't need a new stadium when they had a perfectly good one in the old Globe Life. This beyond absurd August heat would be killing the Rangers by now as they walked out every night to 105 degree starting temps and games that never dipped below 100. Do not underestimate the impact of the still relatively new stadium and the fact that the Rangers aren't getting worn down and worn out by the July and now August heat effect. Chris Young is making some outstanding moves and Bochy is just plain a baseball whisperer but the indoor stadium and not playing day after day in this heat is playing a key role too.

On the flip side, Verlander (7-6) vs Luzardo (8-7) is too tough to call. Of course, Verlander has a much better offense and bullpen now.

Astros hit three homers in the top of the first for a 4-0 lead before JV even has to leave the dugout. (It's still the top of the first.)

Gray pitched well tonight.

But.... Rangers struggling with (2-9) Detmers... probably best performance of the season for him :rolleyes1: but up to 103 pitches....

RANGERS down 1-0 B 7th

2 men left on base, Detmers gets ground out. He is prolly done tonight.

Going to T8.

Rangers rallied in the 9th... 2 on base, no outs and could not get them in!

Final 2-0 LAA

Wasted outing for Gray....

Hope the Astros lost.

Gray (8-5) vs Detmers (2-9) - sounds like another Rangers win tonight.

On the flip side, Verlander (7-6) vs Luzardo (8-7) is too tough to call. Of course, Verlander has a much better offense and bullpen now.

Welp, shows you what I know. If I ever provide lotto numbers, DO NOT listen to me.

UGH! Rangers wasted a good outing by pitchers - bats went silent and couldn't scare up any runs. Lead back to 2-1/2 games.

Good news is, we've taken 5 series in a row if I'm not mistaken. Bad news is, the Astros aren't losing any ground in the race

I'm to the point where I'm happy to get in the playoffs. With this pitching staff I'll take my chances.

I see your point - and given the outlook before the season started, we would all have been very happy to contend for the playoffs. Now that we've seen what this team can do, winning the AL West is within reach - and it would be very worthwhile to do so and get the first-round bye. Given how weak the Central has been, you'd think the East winners and thew West winners would be the #1 and #2 seeds.

Heaney struggling and pulled early.

Bottom 6th

3-3 vs. Brewers

Get it done Rangers!
