2023 Texas Rangers

Rangers wasted a nice pitching performance today, losing 2-0. Bats apparently decided to take the day off. Meanwhile, Houston is pasting the Orioles 8-2 in the bottom of the ninth. Lead will be down to two games.
Rangers off tomorrow before heading across the bay to play the Giants this weekend. Really need for the Orioles to wake up and beat Houston tomorrow.

it seemed like the As really wanted that one. looked very "situational pitching" all game.

They used that new fangled method; starter only in for a designed 2 innings. That tells me their staff was on fumes and yet they shut us out. We're definitely missing a few spark plugs (Heim, Seager, Jung etc.). Garcia needs to become the horse!

Well, good news in Baltimore this afternoon. Orioles withstand a Houston rally in the ninth and hold on to beat Astros 5-4. Rangers now lead Houston in the AL West by 2-1/2 games.

Up next - Ranger cross the Bay to play 3 games at San Francisco, while Astros host Angels for three games. The Rangers come back to Arlington to host Angels while Astros head to Miami to play Marlins. Hope the Marlins can right their ship and help us by winning a game or two from Houston. And Rangers just need to keep winning.

My wife is a die hard rangers fan. Told her you know when you're in a divisional race... you check the schedule of the Rs and Astros daily. Been awhile since we've been in that mode

I’m an Astros fan and I’ve been doing that exact thing for weeks now asking myself “where can the ‘Stros make up ground on the Rangers? Who’s our starting pitcher tomorrow?” I gotta admit the Rangers proved they are for real and it’s going to be a dog fight for the division all the way thru September.

question about the playoff seedings? Does the winner of the AL Central automatically get the 3 seed and home field in the division series even if they have the worst record among all the AL playoff teams? Doesn’t seem fair but I understand the importance of winning the division no matter how crappy it is. If that’s the case, I would rather be the 6 seed and play the AL Central champ then be a 4 or 5 seed and have to face the rays or orioles in the ALDS.

Yes, and you're right 6 seed is better than 5 seed in the AL this year. It's a reward for winning the division.

dang. All the more reason to win the AL West. Winner gets a first round bye as the likely 2 seed avoiding either the rays or orioles in the wild card round. The West is going to be a battle to last week. Good luck Ranger fans but I’m hoping the Stros can overtake them eventually.

My guide said TV game on Bally Sports SW... instead I got sports junk!!!

I want my Rangers!

Anyway, I'm an Android guy. I dont like or use anything Apple!

Good win for the good guys

Can someone tell me why Chapman isn't the closer? Smith scares me to death still and if we had Chapman (as he's pitching currently) to start the season we'd be 5 games to the good

I won't 2nd guess bochy but I don't get it

A bit too close for comfort, but it's in the Win column.
Rangers need to keep winning on this road trip - Angels unlikely to help much in Houston.

Yeah, I've thought the same thing H2RA. I would pitch Smith in front of Chapman - let Chapman close.

I trust Bochy and Maddux strategy - they see things and know baseball a hell of a lot better than me....

But...there are some that simply OWN Chapman...and they aren't all on the Astros roster.

Oh come on...we all know you wanted the job but you got enticed by that offer from Burger King...

MB, how did you know that?

Have you gotten a copy of my resume and saw my long career with Burger King!?

No help from Angels so far. Houston leading 4-1, going to bottom of fifth in Houston. Rangers will need to win in SF to keep the lead at 2-1/2 games.

Seriously, what's our rotation supposed to be when Eovaldi comes back. I'm confused

Really depends when he is back.... suspect the starting 6 will be:
Scherzer, Eovaldi, Gray, Dunning, Heaney, Montgomery.... Perez to the pen.

Bochy may rotate 6 due some coming back from DL. Otherwise me thinks Heaney may be the "to the pen" of the 6 starters, at this point.
