2023 Recruiting - Football

According to TFB, apparently Trey Wisner recently took a trip to Lubbock. They say Wisner might not be so happy with his standing in the class and has a different view of his role at UT. They say Texas may be looking elsewhere.

If its his decision then so be it. The RB room is loaded.

Texas sees him as a complimentary back, with a different style than the others. Kinda like Keilan Robinson, but not as fast.

He wanted to be the main guy and with the other top backs in the room, that wasn't likely to happen. We'll see if he chooses to stick or leave although that decision may have been made for him, it sounds.

The running back room is talented with Robinson, Brooks, Blue, and Baxter! Far from loaded. A few injuries to that position and we are I trouble depth wise. Don’t see a Roschon in the mix! Eisner will be helpful!

I was at the championship game yesterday and he wasn’t even the featured back on his own high school team so I don’t know what the issue is if there is one at all. I kept wondering as I’m watching the game, where does Texas see him long term?? I thought maybe in the slot? I imagine with it being 2-3 years down the road anyway that it’s hard to truly nail that down, only that he’s a talent you want on the field. He has speed and made plays when he did have the ball but if I remember correctly, the top rushing back was #22 on Desoto's team. Desoto used Wisner similarly as Bijan was used, a little throw out of the backfield and maybe thats what Sark sees in him at the next level. Guess we will see soon enough.

Tre looks happy on Saturday with two hook ems :hookem:
Edit: looks like the first photo is a stock photo

Its crazy how NIL has changed recruiting back to the days of the pony express where big alum are just openly paying players in the name of NIL. NCAA has to get this under control or risk losing college sports all together.

legend,

I recently had a conversation with a reporter (outside of Texas) who asked about the NCAA and NIL. My response was that the NCAA remains incompetent amateurs. Why not turn the rule making and enforcement over to the professionals - Barry, Jackie Sherrill, RC, et al. Not the ones that got caught, but the ones that stayed out front of any investigations. Let them make the NIL rules and enforcement.

The big Casinos use former cheaters to watch for cheaters. I think the idea has a lot of merit.
