2022 Transfer Season

I wonder how many days it will be before any Horns are in the portal. I imagine that they’ll need to be season ending discussions with each player. Those discussions need to be correct from both players and coaches. Not guessing but I would be surprised if everyone stayed. I’m guessing 1-2 weeks.

Probably. I think we all know which players might be portal candidates.
 
This is the one I've been waiting/hoping for! Priscilla Wiliams of Syracuse to enter the transfer portal!

Syracuse sharpshooter Priscilla Williams says she’s entering NCAA transfer portal - syracuse.com

Williams is a sharpshooter who started 21 games during the 2020-21 season and averaged 8.7 points, 3.2 assists and recorded 68 rebounds as a freshman. She totaled a career-high 26 points on a perfect 9-for-9 from the field, including 6-for-6 from 3-point range, against Miami on Jan. 17, 2021.

Williams is a native of Houston, Texas by way of Branson, Missouri. She was a five-star recruit out of Branson High School and also considered Florida State, Louisville and Mississippi State before she committed to former SU coach Quentin Hillsman and his 2021 class, which currently has Ava Irvin left with the program

I want Deja Kelly honestly. She’s probably not going to enter the portal but she would be a perfect fit for Vic and would compliment Rori and the rest of our team so well. Fingers crossed she enters

I forgot that Williams and Lattimore were teammates (briefly) at Syracuse. There are a handful of current players who follow Williams on IG; Latasha, Rori, Kendall, and Joanne. Those players likely have a connection with her from her time at Syracuse and in Houston. Coach AP also follows her as does Sammie Wagner.

These connections could be favorable for Texas because Williams has been active since on IG with “liking” numerous posts from Latasha and Rori. Of course, I thought prior connections with Texas players and coaches would help us with Rickea Jackson and that wasn’t the case as Jackson chose Tennessee.

@Moooooo or others, does Williams play the 3/4 similar to Audrey?
 
Williams has always been listed as a shooting guard. But, at 6'2, she can definitely play SF; seems to be a very good rebounder. In a "small" lineup, she could probably play stretch PF.

I would say she is taller, faster, and more offensive minded than Audrey. Not sure about strength compared to Audrey, and how good she is on defense, though.

But, since we pursued Rickea Jackson, I would think pursuing Priscilla makes sense based on what our coaching staff seems to consider a need for next season.

Priscilla played in the same summer ball organization, Missouri Phenom, where Sug played and Sug’s dad coached so they probably know each other well.

I would think Vic committed 2-year scholarships for both Femme and Kobe since they came from JUCO. And, if they are both 1 more academic year away from earning a degree from Texas, they're both likely to stay. If that's not the case, or not their priority, then I wouldn't be surprised if they left for more playing time. They both still have 2 more seasons of eligibility since their second season at JUCO was their COVID season.

I wonder if Kobe is eligible for a medical redshirt season since she hasn't played since 01/09/2022, played in only 5 games, and a combined total of 53 minutes.

Well considering Latasha posted on instagram two days ago saying “we’ll be back #longhornforlife” I would say she is locked in on Texas and trusts our staff. She also liked a comment from Ndjakalenga saying she can’t wait for next season. I don’t think we will see a lot of turnover or players enter the portal unless players like Hunter, Femme, and Kobe were upset about playing time.
 
Lattimore seems to be one who “bought in” to Vic’s system quickly and played quite a lot considering the resolving injury she came with and her need for conditioning and strength training. I hope she stays as I think she will be a significant player if she applies herself to improve physically.
 
I honestly can’t think of a single ‘likely’ transfer other than Kyndall (maybe). Lattimore seems bought in and was very active on social media the past few days about being back next season. Femme seems to have bonded with her teammates and seemed much happier and relaxed later in the season. If she doesn’t develop over the offseason she might be a candidate later this year. I don’t know what to think about Kobe, she was a great influence on the sideline and if she accepted the idea of redshirting, she might stick around another season after she gets fully healthy.
 
Of course I don't KNOW anything... but if I were guessing I'd say there's only one (Hunter) who might leave. Even with that, I hope she sticks around because she has SO MUCH potential to be developed into a special player in Vic's system. I guess we'll know soon enough If there's any attrition from our program.
