Guess that wasn't the case after allI spend most of my time on football recruiting boards. There are insiders groups at other schools like here with Inside Texas, Orangeblood etc.. I have been glued to those insiders in relation to the Manning recruitment in football and took time out to research Jackson's recruitment. And the overall thinking is Tx or LSU.
I guess technically every school a kid visits is a "threat" but there is always one or two that are head and shoulders above the others.
Using the football template, kids prefer to have the full attention of the coaching staff on their visit. As mentioned, I don't follow basketball recruiting / transfers as much so that may not apply as much to the sport.
Football recruiting is rife with rumors, reading tea leaves, connecting the dots and just plain guessing/hoping. Nothing is a given until the paperwork is signed by the athlete. We've seen so many times that so and so school is way ahead and out of the blue an athlete signs elsewhere.
My guess is she already knows what she gets here at UT and coach Vic and wants to see other options. In any event I'm hoping for her to choose Tx.
At this point does Syracuse have any players left on the roster from the 2020-2021 season?
Rickea's a Small Forward with the ability to play the 4 if need be. Ndjakalenga is the player that will fill the Small Foward role. She has a similar size, skill, and body type as Rickea she's just not as explosive or seasoned of a player. She'll have to get stronger and it will take her some time. IMO the biggest needs for them right now is center, and a big guard depending on the health of Cordio.I admit that I'm disappointed that Rickea didn't choose Texas. It would have been nice to have a Forward with her experience and skill. However, the future looks bright with Lattimore. She is just scratching the surface of her potential. We are fortunate to have a trio of Lattimore, Gaston, Moore and Femme in rotation at the 4/5 positions. Hopefully Ebo decides to return for another year or we add another forward through the portal.
I think that's where Blackwell may be a great fit to bridge the gap until Mwenentanda gets experienced. Cordio's physical status is definitely a concern I think. As for center, there could be some options out there if Ebo doesn't return.Rickea's a Small Forward with the ability to play the 4 if need be. Good catch! Her freshman stats support your evaluation of how she could help us.I'm keeping my eyes peeled to see if 6'2 Priscilla Williams enters the transfer portal. Some on the UConn board saying it's about to happen. She'd be able to help us at the 3 spot, IMO. She did visit Miss. State officially several years ago. And, she played some of her high school ball in Katy before moving to Missouri.
Well, she's always listed herself as a "guard". But, I don't see a lot of difference in most offenses between SG and SF; sometimes it's more of a difference on defensive assignments.Good catch! Her freshman stats support your evaluation of how she could help us.
Yes. I also forgot to mention Shay Holle. She'll probably be the starter at Small Foward early on if a player like Blackwell doesn't materialize. She's improved a lot and as been very productive in her role.I think that's where Blackwell may be a great fit to bridge the gap until Mwenentanda gets experienced. I really love the way she's developed... once again KA got a good one not real high on the radar. If she can just become a little more confident and aggressive on the offensive end... I think that will develop eventually though. I keep waiting for her to just shock us (and an opponent) with a breakout offensive game of about 16-18 points. Hey... no better time than tomorrow!Yes. I thought Texas or LSU actually made the most sense with Horston already at Tennessee. Best of luck to her and hope she does well at the other UT.Guess that wasn't the case after all
I was wondering about the Horston thing also.I thought Texas or LSU actually made the most sense with Horston already at Tennessee. Best of luck to her and hope she does well at the other UT.
Horston plays PG, I thought.I thought Texas or LSU actually made the most sense with Horston already at Tennessee. Best of luck to her and hope she does well at the other UT.
I’m thought Hairston played the 3.Horston plays PG, I thought.
No, that is Rae Burrell who might declare for the WNBA draft.I’m thought Hairston played the 3.

We're all wrong. I , like @Bobcat , thought 100% she was a SF but she was on the Ann Meyers-Drysdale award (top SG) watchlist this past season.I’m thought Hairston played the 3.
Not taking it as arguing. My recollection of Horston is that she was the PG. Obviously, she can play more than one position. If she had played all 33 games like Walker, I'd bet Horston would have more assists on the season.Walker was the primary ball handler every time I saw them play while Burrell and Horston played the wings. Horston did handle the ball a lot but Walker was absolutely the PG..... Not trying to argue @moooo, but that is what I saw. Maybe they move Horston to PG next year so Rickea can play the 3 spot. Otherwise, Rickea would have to play the three.

Rickea has never played SG that I know of. She is a small forward / wing player.
They did. Transfer PG from Minnesota. To muddy the waters even more, didn't Tennessee just snag a PG from the portal a few weeks ago? I believe the PG is from the Detroit area (just like Rickea Jackson).
You might be right. Looks like she redshirted her second season at WMU; I missed that earlier. So, she has only played 4 seasons. Still might have to apply for a waiver, as she would have one redshirt season (2018-19) and then last year's COVID season is also considered somewhat of a redshirt season.I think Walker announced a few weeks ago that she’s coming back too.
I have also enjoyed seeing Shay contribute. What I've noticed is that she seems a bit perfunctory, like she's trying to make sure that she follows the plan and doesn't make any mistakes. I think as she gains more confidence she'll become more comfortable and her game will flow more freely. Looking forward to watching her in the coming years.Yes. I also forgot to mention Shay Holle.
