2022 Transfer Season

6’ 2” G/F Kadi Sissoko is intriguing. French player who averaged 10.8 ppg and 5.7 rebounds at Minnesota. Signed with Syracuse back in 2018 before transferring.

Ouch. Lots of reasons kids jump in the portal. Who do you believe? Stats and awards may obscure things for us fans.

Just thought I’d throw this in here regarding the departures from Mizzou. Interesting info.

I'm very surprised how detailed that story was. Lots of very personal and private information that is not typically shared outside the program, let alone with the media. Unless I'm missing something, it sure seems as if somebody inside the program purposely shared it with this this reporter in order to perhaps shift the focus of where the problems originate (players instead of coaches) . . .

My thoughts exactly.

If I’m correct, there was a time when Pidgington did or said things that many construed as anti gay. If indeed she is responsible for the leaks, it won’t help her in future recruiting. I don’t like it when players’ personal issues are put on full display. I’ve never been a fan of hers....

Best wishes to RJ. She's a really good player and deserves to be where she feels happiest. Now let's put on the full-court press for Blackwell!
According to the latest press, it seems Blackwell has had some problems off the court, so I'm not 100% behind this choice. I think she would have to earnestly convince Coach Vic that she recognized the error of her ways and plans to be more mature in the future for him to seriously consider her.

Let's keep in mind that there are 2 sides to every story. I also think Vic is a believer in second chances. But, each situation is different.

Mizzou as an athletics program has had a lot of recent issues and bad press. Their women's volleyball head coach seems to have run off all the African-American players on his squad, and there has been talk of racism and discrimination.

I thought their previous head football coach also had some off the field issues, but I don't recall the specifics.

Yes seems like she said something along the lines about a real family atmosphere within her program and mentioned something about “husband and wife” in the press conference announcing her as new HC. I never liked her and still don’t

Yup... that's what I recall. That small-town, small-minded mentality from Iowa and the southern part of Illinois where she previously coached at Illinois State. She reminds me of the late Rene Portland in that regard. I feel the same about her as you. Even though she's a very good tactician, there's more to coaching than that.

Oh gosh wonder whatever happened to Rene Portland….not!

I looked up the quotes from that press conference and Pingeton was bragging about her staff all being married with kids “something very unique in Division 1 women’s basketball”. She had already started by saying she was a Christian who happens to be a coach so message was certainly sent from day one.
I do agree she’s a pretty good X’s & O’s coach from what I’ve seen. Still don’t care for her or any program she’s over. (I didn’t remember that Bill Fennelly was her mentor.)

Rene Portland passed away a few years back. I don't have any knowledge of Pingeton ever being under Bill Fennelly. She is from a small town in Iowa and coached at Illinois State prior to becoming Cindy Stein's successor at Mizzou.

She mentioned Fennelly being her mentor several times in that press conference is the only way I knew.

Kentucky facing some exodus:

Holy cow. Edwards is a BIG loss. 2nd best player on the team and came up clutch for them several times, most recently hitting that 3 to beat SC. Howard is leaving for the WNBA - Kentucky might bottom out next season.

Earlier in the season when Kentucky was on a long losing skid, I wondered if signee, Tiona Herron from DeSoto would want out; stopped thinking that once Kentucky won the SEC tourney and everything seemed to be back on track for that program. Now, here we are again . . .

Koi Love supposedly put up good offensive numbers at Vanderbilt before transferring to Arizona last season; not sure what happened there.
