2022 Transfer Season

Faye just posted that she’s trying to get her transcripts to “transfer to another university” but, Tech put a hold on her account which is making it hard for her to transfer. That entire school is just filled with :e-poo: -holes
A player on the men's team there called out the coach for doing something regarding his academics to try to prevent him from transferring.

Over the years, TTU and BU have always taken turns being at the top of my most-disliked list.... perpetually ahead of OU and TAMU.

Someone ask Chevalier how a school holding an athlete’s records hostage while trying to transfer out is a such good environment of support promoting mental health and wellbeing for her fellow student athlete

I notice Khadijah Faye and Aaliyah Moore now follow each other
On Instagram or twitter? Seems like Faye deleted her IG account a couple of weeks ago (as she was the most recent account Vic started following a couple of months ago). Not sure if she created a new IG account, but I couldn't find it.

That's very strange. The intent of the transfer portal was to prevent schools/coaches from making things difficult for a student athlete who made the decision to transfer.

On twitter, I saw where coaches from a New Mexico junior college started following her; so, made me wonder if she was gonna go the JUCO route.

She said it was due to a hold from a payment that was not made on her account from the spring of 2021. If that’s the case the school won’t allow you to register for courses until the bill is payed and she said she has been taking courses since then so Tech is all over the place. She also stated the hold was put into place on May 27th so I’m sure this was done intentionally by someone on that staff. They seem to have that maliciousnesses in them.

I do see that Khadija Faye's Instagram account is active again; that's where Aaliyah Moore started following her recently, which to me has to be a good sign for us.

I know our first summer semester started on June 2. So, one week in already that it's probably too late for anyone to enroll. Fingers crossed that Faye has her intentions set on transferring to Texas, and can get those issues at Tech settled and come join our program in time for second summer session in July.

I noticed on Sonya Morris' Instagram that she's still in St Louis. Hoping Vic gave her a few extra days before having to move to Austin rather than something going sideways with her transfer.

Watched highlights and she is pretty mobile and can finish with both hands really well and shoots free throws very well. Honestly the perfect big to replace Ebo since they are similar in size. I hope the staff reaches out. Perfect piece to complete our roster:hookem:

That's done at most if not all schools. That hold was put on her record at the end of Spring 2022 for an amount due from Spring 2021 (1 year). UT does the same thing, but does not wait a year to do it. With that hold (UT calls it a bar) on your record, you cannot register, purchase an official transcript, receive your diploma, etc. until paid.

ITS OFFICIAL!!

Despite your very good point, I'm still going to attribute it to Texas Tech pettiness. :D

Damn ya'll. Vic's not f#^*ing around this year! Faye had some downright great performances this season when she was healthy, including outrebounding Ayoka, Egbo and Ebo/the rest of our team. I remember being quite annoyed watching that game in January because it seemed like she kept screwing up our efforts to get back into the game. She's had some double-digit scoring games too. She has great size and doesn't mind mixing it up in the paint. I think Vic basically said that's my kinda player, really wanted her, and went after her right away. As people on this board stated - I think she was the only portal player he was following on Instagram? That says quite a bit. So not that long ago, we were all freaking out about what we were going to do in the low post this season. Now, with the players we got from the portal and the players left on the roster, I feel like that position is a real strength for the team.

I don't think Vic could have done any better in the transfer portal in trying to solidify his Center position not only for this upcoming season, but for possibly the next 2 seasons, as well, depending on how many years Taylor Jones decides to play in college. Faye actually has 3 seasons of eligibility remaining; so, that's great that she's not just a one-year incoming transfer.

Obviously, many were anxious about the possibility of 6'6 Stephanie Soares coming to Texas since her Mom played for Jody back in the late 80's. But, no signs out there that there was mutual interest between her and our coaching staff.

I think we have the best frontcourt in the Big 12 this coming season (if everyone is healthy), and one of the best in the country (South Carolina, Tennessee, UConn, Stanford good ones, too):

Centers:
- 6'5 Femme Masudi
- 6'4 Khadija Faye
- 6'4 Taylor Jones (can also play PF)

Power Forwards:
- 6'4 Amina Muhammad
- 6'2 DeYona Gaston
- 6'1 Aaliyah Moore

With one scholarship remaining for the upcoming season, my focus turns completely to a backup point guard. Georgia grad-transfer, Gabby Connally entered the transfer portal shortly after the season (although she did not play for Georgia this past season). The San Antonio native has one season of eligibility remaining, and is also a pretty good 3-point shooter, IIRC.

All while most people on the Board have been freaking out over Vic taking his time to get the assistant coaching positions filled with the right people. My, my.

Those of us who are anxious to know who will be added to our coaching staff doesn't necessarily constitute "freaking out" (unless that's obvious through the wording in certain posts in the Coaching Carousel thread). I've personally stated on here that Vic's (lengthy) timeline is his own, and even though I don't understand it, that's my issue.

Some felt we'd have our complete staff in place prior to the start of the newcomers reporting for the first summer session, summer workouts, summer camps, etc. Some were concerned not having a full coaching staff in place could limit national in-person high school player evaluations, and recruiting.

I don't think anyone would disagree that other than Elena Lovato being re-hired, Vic has taken longer than any other head coach in the country to fill coaching vacancies. Again, he can obviously take as long as he wants.

As for what he and his current staff members have accomplished the last 2 months in securing verbal commitments from 2023 recruits Sami Wagner and Gisella Maul, and landing (impact) transfers like Taylor Jones, Sonya Morris, and Khadija Faye, job well done! No one can doubt they aren't working hard.

I want Shaylee Gonzales from BYU. Although very unlikely, I want to stack our team until we can’t stack anymore. Now if we can just get some coaches then we are all set.

I don’t think that happens. I think Vic will roll with Matharu and Hunter as backups at pg. Just a feeling.

My post probably came across too strongly. I just don't think people appreciate that these kids clearly know who is running the program and can lead them to championships. They realize they will be playing for Vic, in Vic's system, and with Vic being their primary leader and motivator. Vic is the type of man you would run through walls for.

Of course, most kids would like to have a position coach they can bond with, but they trust Vic to select that excellent coach at the proper time.
