2022 Recruiting - Football

ou guru Brandon Drum put in Texas CBs for --
Kristopher Ross -- 5 total now, all UT
Bryce Anderson -- 6 to UT, 2 to aggy and 2 to ou. Perroni and Wiltfong are both still aggy

My guess is Campbell or Shug pulls the trigger. We really need to turn things around with Banks. I've always considered Dewberry a long shot since his HS coaches are aggys, but Banks is a guy who we despirately need.

Even with the cbs for Banks to the gags.

As of this morning, Hamilton from IT saying Texas leads for OL Devon Campbell (Arlington Bowie) and OL Kelvin Banks (Humble Summer Creek).
And they are "right there" with OL Kam Dewberry (Humble Atascocita).

Also Blue is hitting up Blanks and Dewberry on Twitter.

Stewart Commitment is HUGE!!!!

He was the guy I most wanted at Texas, he has the skill set of a Devonte Smith, I know others have compared him to Jalen Waddle, but I just think he skills remind me more of Smith.

With 2 Wrs in the fold, I now think you are going to see a couple of others jump aboard pretty quick so as to make sure they have a spot to take as I don't see Texas taking more than 4 guys this cycle.

CJ Williams and they'll wait as long as it takes on Coleman. Don't really see any others (maybe Wilson) unless Burton does a monumental shift.

Some 247 stuff about the new hires

Texas was closing in on a new Director of Player Personnel in Billy Glasscock. Tonight, sources tell Horns247 that Glasscock is working on hammering out the details to finalize a deal with Texas. Steve Sarkisian moved on from former DPP Derek Chang shortly after arriving in Austin. After plans fell through to hire former South Carolina DPP Drew Hughes, Sarkisian had to move on to other options.

Glasscock has been at North Carolina State since 2017 and helped the Wolfpack land in the Top 45 of recruiting classes every year with two Top-30 finishes. Before arriving in Raleigh, Glasscock served as Director of Recruiting Operations at Minnesota. Prior to Minnesota, Glasscock worked at Northern Illinois, Arizona Western and Joliet Junior College.

He's been instrumental in helping the Wolf Pack increase their recruiting footprint in a competitive ACC conference. While he's been at more mid-level stops so far, many people think he's ready for the step up to the big time.

247Sports' Steve Wiltfong wrote about what Glasscock would bring to Texas, saying, "That would be a terrific hire for the Longhorns as Glasscock is at the top of his profession in my opinion in a conversation that would include the likes of Ohio State’s Mark Pantoni, Clemson’s Jordan Sorrells, Oklahoma's Drew Hill and Texas A&M’s Marshall Malchow.

Now, Glasscock is more than ready to be on an even playing field with those guys. He is a triple threat in the role, organized, a strong evaluator and he can recruit."

There's still no word about when an announcement will be made regarding the decision, but sources pointed to this week as a possible ETA. If Glasscock is put into place, the remaining personnel department slots should come together quickly to round things out.

Sounds like Wiltfong will soon have a UT source

Time to go get some big uglies!

Gabe Brooks description of Stewart

“Adequate-sized receiver with lean, athletic build. Can play from the outside and the slot. Dangerous vertically and in run-after-catch scenarios. Explosive playmaking ability in the open field. Owner of one of the best track and field profiles in the 2022 class. Personal records include 10.74 100, 21.08 200, 24-6 long jump, and 47-9 triple jump. Athleticism translates to the gridiron. Gets on top of corners quickly and flashes runaway speed. Shows good acceleration. Quick-footed and should possess high ceiling as a route-runner. Springy in 50-50 situations and can go up and get it in traffic. Can more consistently leverage DB's into breaks. Filling out and getting stronger will help transition to facing high-major DB's, as a pass-catcher and a perimeter blocker. One of the top offensive prospects in Texas for 2022. Could become an all-conference wideout at the P5 level with long-term early-round NFL Draft potential.”
