Some quotes from Wesolak-
“Coach K, their defensive coordinator, said he loves everything about me. He thinks I can be the best pass rusher in the class. I already had an offer from Texas, but he (Kwiatkowski) reached out to me and said they still love me. He said that he and the D-line coach will be on me hard.”
“Right now, it’s difficult with Covid to tell who is in my top list of schools. Without question, Notre Dame, Alabama, Clemson, Texas, Oklahoma, Mizzou, Arizona State and Oregon would be there.”
Worth a look - still a position of need for us

Fong put in a CB for Booneville (Mo.) High defensive end DJ Wesolak to Notre Dame

Wesolak elaborated on the Wolverines, Longhorns and Ducks as well. “Michigan is a new offer but they’re a great program and ready to win and they love me and I also forgot about Texas, Coach Sark loves my film and Coach K wants me there he thinks I can set the tempo for everyone and believe I’m the best in my position. Oregon is a great program and they’ve had their history of being a great team in the Pac 12 and getting players developed and ready for the next level.”

The 6-foot-5, 225-pound Wesolak would like to take visits before making a college decision. “I’ll probably wait a little bit unless I feel like a place is home for me,” he said.

TFB says Ross has backed off committing on Friday

Rivals' latest "Fact or Fiction" Maalik Murphy is a better get for Texas than Quinn Ewers.

Farrell’s take: FICTION. Maalik Murphy brings a lot to the table and is a huge get for Steve Sarkisian but an in-state commitment from Quinn Ewers would mean more to recruiting than an elite QB from California. What I like about this is that Texas lost Ewers and Sark came in and landed one of the elite passers in the country regardless. His offense is intriguing to quarterbacks but Ewers' in-state ties would be a bit better.

Gorney’s take: FACT. Ewers has the edge in terms of proof on the field but I’m going to say Murphy is a better get because it starts to validate Sarkisian’s efforts and ability to recruit the West region which has been valuable to Clemson, Alabama, Ohio State, Oklahoma and other national powers across the country. The Longhorns won’t focus their entire recruiting class on players from the West especially since in-state recruiting needs to be a major focus, but cherry-picking some top prospects could provide valuable additions to the class. Murphy proves that it’s possible. Bijan Robinson was a major name to head to Austin and now Murphy has all the tools to be special there as well.

due to they need to figure their "s" out. they almost filled every hospital bed in the state last month. 86% of ALL hospital beds. it's just math.
I live here and watch the numbers almost every day. The corner has been turned, dramatically. Hospitalizations and ICU numbers have been dropping like a rock. If I am not mistaken, new cases are down something like 80%.

He is from Louisiana and has mentioned that LSU was his " dream school" .
LSU really hasn't pushed on him, maybe they decided to and he's wavering.
Another possibility is that a commit video has been delayed.

Somewhat colorful article from the San Jose Mercury News

"Pac-12 recruiting: Now at Texas, Steve Sarkisian ‘out for blood’ as he pursues the best West Coast prospects
The conference faces a new threat to its talent pool from the former USC and Washington coach"

"The Pac-12’s talent pipeline has been under siege for years, but a new threat orchestrated by an old friend is rapidly emerging — and it could make the ongoing challenges seem harmless by comparison.

Within weeks of being named head coach at Texas on Jan. 2, Steve Sarkisian made his intentions clear in triple-whammy fashion. He hired Jeff Banks, a former Washington State punter with recruiting ties throughout the Pac-12 footprint.
A few days later, he hired Pete Kwiatkowski, the highly-respected Washington defensive coordinator.

Then Sarkisian delivered a gut punch, securing a commitment last weekend from the top quarterback on the West Coast in the class of 2022: Maalik Murphy, the five-star prospect from Serra High School in Gardena.

As if the Pac-12 doesn’t have enough trouble keeping top prospects at home, it now must deal with a threat uniquely qualified to plunder.

Sarkisian, the former Washington and USC head coach, will pursue the best West Coast recruits with insider knowledge of the terrain, a massive budget, unlimited resources, non-stop flights to Austin and a campus culture compatible with the California ethos.

“It’s almost like he’s preparing to coach in the Pac-12 with the (assistants) he’s bringing in at Texas,’’ 247sports national recruiting analyst Brandon Huffman said.

It’s clear he’s out for blood with USC and Washington, and Oregon, too.’’..."

Nick Harris on Ross

In talking to sources, we were able to confirm that North Shore DT Kris Ross will most likely be pushing back his decision date. He was initially set to commit on Friday after posting his top four of Texas, LSU, Oklahoma and Baylor last week, but a USC offer has made things interesting. There is no current timeline for when Ross plans to decide, but I expect him to take some time with it. This obviously doesn't bode well for Texas as they emerged as the favorite going into the week.

On why:
Early playing time and a familiarity with some guys on the coaching staff, including Carrington.

Awesome. “We’re not here to take part....we’re here to take over.”

Offer to 4-star J'mond Tapp of Donaldsonville, LA
The #10 DE and a top 150 player per the Comp
But we are the dreaded "dream school"
