Lets just say Malik M may not work out so we need insurance.

The intent was always to take 2 this cycle..

Two names mentioned were Devin Brown of Draper, UT who is currently committed to USC, and Richard Torres of San Antonio Southside who is a Nebraska verbal.

Another to keep in mind at the JUCO level is General Booty of Tyler JC whose uncle, John David, played for Sark at USC.

I was known as General Booty on the 40.

Unless the rules have changed, the visiting team cannot sponsor recruits.

Good! Cast the net wide, and cast it often to the West. Ignore the provincial and myopic mob who only want to recruit in-state. Lest anyone forget, Bijan comes from Arizona.

i don’t know who wants to recruit solely in state, I however want the states talent locked down, the ones we want. Tired of seeing our best talent go to OU or Alabama cause they think it’s the only place they can win a championship when if they would stay loyal to the soil they would win multiple championships right here and all their family and friends can watch them regularly.

I want to lockdown the best in-state talent, and cherry pick plenty of top out of state talent. That’s what Ohio State, Bama, USC when they were on top, etc (the very top programs) have done.

We're not winning any championships with our previous 2 head coaches and the last few years of the the before them.
Most kids want to play for a winner now, not tomorrow, not 2-3 years down the road. We've done nothing with said coaches to indicate " championships".
Also a lot of recruiting is relationship building between coaching staff and recruit.
In Texas like no other state, HS coaches hold the keys to the kingdom (although social media is eroding that.) and by all accounts herman was loathed by most every HS school coach out there. And some liked Charlie but most were ambivalent about him.
Change is a coming. Sark was an absolute 100% hit when he spoke at the HS convention early this summer. He has a support system with Gilbert and Harris that no other school is going to match. HS coaches love them.
And for the first time in a decade or more we have a coaching staff that can actually " develop" players.
There is a new mindset on the field that is slowly taking hold. We already have a couple of recruits that didn't have us in their sights before Sark.
Unfortunately we all have to be patient and I'm the worst with being patient.

Alabama and Ohio st. HAVE to go out of state for their talent, not enough in state. USC and Texas doesn't but I agree with your first sentence.

247 saying OL Cameron Williams of Duncanville will be at the Cotton Bowl next weekend, and the Texas staff is attempting to get him to Austin on the 16th.

It's been an "all hands on deck" approach for Williams, with Sark texting him almost every day and he also hears from coaches Gilbert, Harris and Flood consistently.

Cameron Williams, Duncanville, Offensive Tackle

Nailed it, Chop. Agree - we need to get the top talent in Texas to stay in Texas. I hate seeing great Texas HS players got to Zero U. Yeh, there are more talented HS players in Texas than the Texas schools have slots for, so there will be some guys going out of state - but the Longhorns need to lock up the cream of the crop.

LSU is down. Time to cherry pick 2-3, or 4 top Louisiana players. Le cream de la creme, seule.*
