The SEC has always been very incestuous with its coaches and athletic directors . . .Stealing one from within the conference? Bold.

Geographically, good choice of words. The SEC has always been very incestuous with its coaches and athletic directors . . .
Sounds like the dominant rumor…
It's been since the late 90's I believe when Georgia last made a Final Four and finished as national runnerup to Tennessee. Other than that, a few Sweet 16's; maybe an Elite 8 appearance, but, that's it in he last 25 years or so.First impression, surprise. Before Gary Blair, Texas A&M had no real success in women's basketball. Georgia is more of a blue blood program in women's basketball.
I would think Joni Taylor received an offer from Texas A&M, which has a lot of money, but Georgia is unwilling to match.
It'll be interesting to see how well she recruits the state.
They poach each other's coaches an AD's like no one else I've seen.Geographically, good choice of words.
I agree. I've been really surprised and impressed by the job that Nell has done at Georgia Tech.Honestly, Georgia did not return to its former glory under Joni so I am not quite sure why this would be such a good get. What am I missing? Would think Nell from Georgia Tech might be a better pick but what do I know.

You could argue that pound for pound Georgia has the best high school talent in the country year in and year out.
Apparently, the programs in Georgia have an issue keeping in-state talent? Nell has done her job with a roster seasoned with an international flavor. I would think that Atlanta would be an attractive destination for in-state recruits.I agree. I've been really surprised and impressed by the job that Nell has done at Georgia Tech.
I also don't understand why Georgia hasn't been able to get back to their glory years that they had under Landers in the 80's/90's. You could argue that pound for pound Georgia has the best high school talent in the country year in and year out.
I say that because most people would probably argue that bigger states like California or Texas would be more talented. But just look at the kind of talent that's come out of Georgia over the past 5-10 years.I'm trying to wrap my head around "pound for pound"?????
Yep. We were just recruiting another highly touted player from Georgia in Flau'jae Johnson that obviously didn't stay in-state.Apparently, the programs in Georgia have an issue keeping in-state talent? Not to mention all those that Tennessee has snatched over the years.Yep. We were just recruiting another highly touted player from Georgia in Flau'jae Johnson that obviously didn't stay in-state.

So, TCU is keeping Raegan Pebley another season? She followed up her 2020-21 season record of 10-15 with a 6-22 record this season.
Over these last 2 seasons, there are new Big 12 coaches at Texas, Tech, OU, and Baylor. There will be new head coaches next season at OSU and WV.
Pebley has tenure over every head coach in the Big 12 except those at ISU, KSU, and KU.
The biggest challenges in that equation for top-tier recruits will be Vic and Kim IMO... Especially in and around the Houston area. I think Baylor has begun what will be a steady decline, and I'm still not drinking the OU Kool-Aid.Absolutely agree, Georgia high schools produce top recruits especially per capita. I notice Joni Taylor has no connection to the state of Texas. It'll be interesting how she does recruiting against Vic, Nicki at Baylor, Jennie at Oklahoma, and dare I say Kim at LSU.
With the Missouri State coach leaving to feel the opening at Virginia, I would think Missouri State would have interest in D. Jackson. If so, I would really hope that the interest would not be mutual.Hopefully she has the same philosophy as Jhonnie had in the sense that she never felt the need to take any job just because you become a HC. It has to be one where you can build something and have sustainable success.
Ever since he flat out told Kirk Bohls that he was not leaving for the A&M job (a few weeks ago), I didn't give it another thought. I took him at his word and moved on.Well, so much for the "threat" of Vic leaving for his alma mater. Gosh, I sure hope we don't have to worry about him taking one of the other jobs like Missouri State, West Virginia, etc.
Anyone who suggested he would leave UT was either delusional or just trying to start ****. He, like Coach Conradt, recognized when he landed the dream job. JC was a Baylor grad and you never saw her trying to get back there. Just saying...
Texas A&M hires Georgia's Joni Taylor as women's basketball coach
