2021 Recruiting - Football

I had not heard of Patrick “Speedy” Flowers

I get it now.

Are we aggressively pursuing James? I’m just curious why Texas and not the other schools that have offered both was included. Maybe the Perrilouxs, Martellus(es), Rouses, and most recently Ringos of this world have me paranoid. On a side note, I really hope Ringo doesn’t pan out and watches us win a natty just like those others.

EDIT: He may be a little underweight but he’s got some nastiness minus the obvious cheap shot.

Anyone get the idea that Herman and crew have to much time on their hands and are passing out offers because they are as bored as the rest of us?

We made the top 7 for 4-star LB Aaron Willis of Baltimore
Aaron Willis, St. Frances Academy, Outside Linebacker

LB Aaron Willis is originally from Texas and he still has family in Texas who he still visits. His family are Texas fans. We made his top 7. It would have helped if Orlando had already recognized all this and been in contact but, it any event, it sounds like we may actually have a legit shot.
The 247 Composite has him as the #9 OLB nationally, #109 player overall

Demetric Warren put in a Texas CB for JD Coffey

I had thought the pursuit of Coffey was over, but with the virus travel lockdown, I think we just circled back to closer players. I would rate Mukuba and Nwokobia higher

247 now has James Brockermeyer as the #1 OC in state and #2 nationally

But here is Wiltfong on the Brocks

Writeup for Brockermeyer- I’m told five-star offensive tackle Tommy Brockermeyer and his twin brother James are nowhere close to a college decision. My 247Sports Crystal Ball Forecast is with Alabama for both. I think the player development is one of the keys to their decision and the Crimson Tide along with Oklahoma are the program that have had the most players drafted at the position over the last five years with seven apiece, and we know a Brockermeyer is not going to play football at Oklahoma. And that’s because the father Blake Brockermeyer was an All-American at Texas before his long NFL career. Plus, brother Luke Brockermeyer is already at Texas as a linebacker. Maybe in the end the Brockermeyer twins choose the program they grew up rooting for but for now I think the Crimson Tide are in front with Auburn and LSU also squarely in the picture. Each program is slated to get an official with the original plan for Alabama to get two (twins have the opportunity to take 10 trips because of NCAA visit rules).

Where the top 10 uncommitted 2021 prospects are leaning

Burris was considered an aggy lean from the outset. The idea was that he wanted to live in "a small town atmosphere." I have no idea if that is or ever was true, but its what aggy was saying.

Here is the Humidor on DL recruits Burris amd Turner --

We’ll begin along the defensive line. The ideal defensive tackles in Chris Ash’s front four are Desoto’s Shemar Turner and Texarkana Pleasant Grove’s Marcus Burris.

Both four-star prospects with 20+ offers have the size (6’3.5-6’4, 255-260), strength, and ability to collapse the pocket with quickness and athleticism. Texas would be happy to land either.

Turner is in no hurry to make his decision and wants to take all his officials when we return to normalcy. He’s pretty open, though we like Texas long-term if the staff is forced to push.

As for Burris, Oscar Giles and Chris Ash told him that both he and his teammate Landon Jackson are top priorities. Texas has looked great for the past two years with Jackson. There’s a growing sense that Jackson and Burris feel like they could bring out the best in each other at the same school, like Texas.

Giles and Mark Hagen are involved, so don’t be surprised if Hagen, a former A&M assistant, reminds Burris and Jackson about the downside to living in College Station. Selling the new front is music to the ears of both players, not just Jackson.

Burris is in constant contact with the UT staff, but A&M is still in good shape. If these two play together, we have reason to believe it would be in Austin.

Texas needs to stay the course with Jackson and continue taking baby steps with Burris. There’s a real chance Texas lands both.

We are an offering machine.
Looks like we are following Alabama's lead. If it works I'm all for it but it does concern me that we may get the .8800 commits and have no room for the .9200-.9900s.

The new assistants must have made Herman agree to this first, because its not his style

I wonder if it's a new philosophy or just a function of the coaching turnover bringing in a lot of new/different kids. Texas had their group, and then all the new coaches had theirs, and they all agreed to work a bigger pot for a year or two.

We will have to wait and see if its a temporary or permanent change.
But the longer the virus hangs around, the more in-state makes sense
