2021 Recruiting - Football

An article about Jaydon Williams -

A former wide receiver, Williams has clocked in the 4.4 range and lists his quickness as his biggest strength.

“I come off the ball fast, but I need to be fast every play. I come off the edge, but sometimes miss the tackle because of angles,” Williams said. “It’s just fundamentals that I’m working on. My speed is my strength, and just be able to dodge defenders. When people try to block me, I can get around them.”

“I’ve been a Longhorn fans since I was very little. I have Longhorn socks, a Longhorn hoodie, Longhorn hat. When it gets cold, I get Longhorn down,” Williams said. “Texas is like my favorite. Texas, that’s my dream school. I don’t want to say they’re number one, but I’ve dreamed about this.”

One of those VY type guys who is faster than he looks. Like VY he covers 5 yds. in two strides at top speed. I hope Texas signs him even if only he is a second RB. A whole lot of talent here with the ball.

His style reminded me some of NFL-Arizona's Kenyan Drake - anyone else think that?

A CB came in for Savion Byrd to SMU from Mike Roach

from an interview Q&A with Duncanville’s Savion Byrd: His recruiting process, thoughts on SMU and switching back from DT to OT

Where do you stand in the recruiting process? Have you set a timetable for when you want to commit by?
No, not really. I was going on visits before the virus [pandemic] happened. I was supposed to go to LSU the day that the outbreak really took off. Basically, my whole spring break was going to be visits. I was going to visit Texas, Texas A&M, but I had to cancel. People expect me to still commit to a school, where I honestly haven’t seen everything yet.

Do you want to wait to commit until you have taken official visits to the schools you are considering?
Yeah, definitely.

Texas Insider Mike Roach from 247Sports predicted Monday that you will commit to SMU. What were your thoughts on that?
People say that just because I’ve been up there a lot. When people started posting it on Instagram and stuff like that, everybody thought I was already committed. The only thing I said was that I’m not committed. It didn’t bother me at all. I just let people think what they think.

Is SMU one of the schools you are strongly considering?
Yeah. SMU is a pretty good school.

What are the other front-runners at this point?
Georgia, Texas, Oklahoma, LSU, A&M, TCU and Auburn. They’re pretty tight with me.

Has Ja’Quinden Jackson tried to convince you to pick Texas as your college after he signed there?
Yeah, he mentions it sometimes.

Gabe Brooks on some players he thinks should be potential offers for Texas in the 2021 class

Elijah Bean, 4-star WR Humble Summer Creek - high-ceiling outside receiver with a terrific track and field profile that makes him that much more interesting as a football prospect. At 6-foot-5, 185 pounds, Bean is tall, long, and lean with outstanding frame potential... Bean owns verified track times of 11.05 seconds in the 100 meters, 21.75 in the 200, and 48.77 in the 400.

Tavierre Dunlap, 4-star Del Valle RB - more than 1,300 yards and 20 touchdowns as a junior, while catching 20 passes for 208 yards and three TD's. The 6-foot, 196-pounder has encouraging speed with verified times for 4.63 in the 40 and 11.23 in the 100 from a year ago during his sophomore year.

Byron Murphy II, 3-star DT DeSoto - disruptive interior defender with impressive production who performed very well in front of us not only on last spring's elite camp circuit, but when we saw him in the fall in game action. Murphy recorded 98 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, 5 1/2 sacks, four forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, and one defensive touchdown in 2019

Alton McCaskill, 3-star RB Conroe Oak Ridge - ran a 10.91-second 100m March 5, and his recruitment has exploded since. But his tape is strong, too, and he ran for 845 yards and 10 TD's on 7.0 yards per carry in 2019. At 6-foot-1, 195 pounds with that verified speed, McCaskill will no doubt continue to reel in big offers in the coming weeks.

CJ Baskerville 3-star S Richland High - 2019 with 85 tackles

Keuan Parker, 3-star CB Tulsa - 5-foot-11, 173 has been in contact with Jay Valai

Wow I'd be stoked if this happens. 4 LBs would be what the doctor ordered and talented. Whew Smith, Sanders and Bowman that's a strong foundation. I've been saying that this season won't be played but I hope I'm wrong. It's hard to wait eight months much less a year and months.

Thanks for Mike Roach's defensive list he expects we end up with....does he also have a offensive list of players he expects UT ends up with.

From another site, someone is claiming a 4-star defensive player wanted to commit, but the staff held off

he's got aggy on 247 for burris?

Burris was considered an aggy lean from the outset. The idea was that he wanted to live in "a small town atmosphere." I have no idea if that is or ever was true, but its what aggy was saying.

just think it's weird that Mike's saying Horns in one place and aggy in another. you'd THINK they match up.
