2020 Recruiting - Football

The AAS says Collins is at 303. Going from 275 during BBall season to 305 post BBall does not seem so dramatic. For example, Sweat went from senior year at 249 to 299 first year at Texas, which was quite a bit more weight than Collins here. I cant rmbr where the 335 came from, but may have just been a typo

The 6'6 senior, who is graduating June 6 at Memorial Stadium, has increased his weight to 303 pounds after playing basketball at 275 pounds.

"I don’t know where my body’s going to go... It may go down, it may go up as long as I stay fast."

Collins’ mother, Benita... said her son has a voracious appetite. "He is frequently in the kitchen eating, eating and more eating. There are definitely no small meals made in our household."

Under new defensive coordinator Chris Ash, Texas will move from a three- to a four-man defensive front, giving Collins, a strong-side defensive end, more opportunity to play as a true freshman.

"(Giles) said I’m going to be in the rotation." Collins said.

Part of Mike Roach's piece on Dajon Harrison. The link has video

" ..... The major recruiting services disagreed on their assessment of Harrison. The industry-generated 247Sports Composite ranked Harrison as a three-star prospect and named him the No. 87 wide receiver in the nation and No. 70 overall prospect in Texas. The 247Sports rankings also designated Harrison as a three-star prospect, but he ranked as the No. 132 wide receiver in the nation and No. 112 overall prospect in Texas.

247Sports Midlands region recruiting analyst Gabe Brooks compared Harrison to Nebraska wide receiver JD Spielman and wrote the following evaluation. “Short, compact build that projects best to an inside receiver spot. Limited frame for bulk addition, but built fairly well relative to listed size. Experience at receiver, running back, cornerback, and on special teams. Primarily recruited as a receiver, but also has gotten looks as an athlete or corner. Type of offensive athlete with whom a staff can get creative. Pretty quick off the line and shows impressive lateral mobility in the short area. Capable of stringing together moves to maximize runs and run-after-catch opportunities. Provides consistent big-play ability. Stretches the field in vertical game. Limited defensive experience but encouraging play there. Solid tackler relative to size. Total athletic profile lacks context from measurable standpoint. No verified 40 or shuttle, but owns a promising 100-meter time (11.14). Shows good on-field burst but can improve top-end speed and consistency. Lack of size limits blocking effectiveness at the next level and long-term physical ceiling. Also would present potential red-zone issues in a corner role. Athletic, productive, big-play prospect who projects to Power 5 level.”

If people dont recognize Hudson Card now, they may want to check their vision..

I'll add I am expecting an epic QB dual between he, Thompson, and JJ...though I believe CT will be first up.

Roach says we have been in contact with Alabama graduate transfer WR Tyrell Shavers who is originally from Lewisville. As a 4-star recruit in 2017, he had a laser-timed 4.38. At Alabama, however, he mostly only played on ST. He will have 2 seasons of eligibility

Looks like this is getting legs due to uncertainty surrounding BE.

Shavers to Mississippi State/Mike Leach

Like going from elementary school to kindergarten.

Going from possible gunner on special teams with guys taking shots at your legs, to playing for a coach that can turn you into a first round pick. Leach did it for a basketball player without 4.3 speed, and a disruptive QB; the kid has to believe he can do more with his talent.
