2020 Recruiting - Football

Crabtree was recruited to play basketball for Bobby Knight, and I doubt he ever caught a 90 mph tennis ball at close range; hence, yes I give Leach credit for developing his football skills and making him a high draft choice.

Well, footballs are more difficult than basketballs to catch I will grant you. I know he had a pro career, but I never watched him block or his route running. But a basketball player that is not a dominating center must learn spacing.

But it seems to me that both had pro success by innate ability combined with hard work. How many years was Leech at TTU and WSU? I honestly cannot think of any other WR to emerge from his program and go pro. I am no authority on those things though.

Wes Welker, Danny Amendola, probably more. I am not a fan of the pirate as many others are, but he is a good coach.

We have been in contact with Iowa portal LB Dillon Doyle - he reached out to us along with a few other programs.
He is the son of their S&C coach who has been suspended.

Dillon Doyle, Iowa, Outside Linebacker
Won't he have to sit out a year. I don't think he is a grad transfer since he started at Iowa in 2018.

His physical stature seems good (6'3" 240lbs) but he only recorded stats in 6 games last year with a total of 23 tackles. Seems like a roster filler/development rather than someone who comes in an contributes right away. He has also burned his redshirt.

Per Mike Roach --

Texas is definitely in on Arizona graduate transfer Tony Fields. There are still some boxes to check for Fields, but Texas has the need at linebacker on the weakside. I’m still attempting to gather more info on Fields’ side, but I’ve been told that Texas feels this is a prospect they could land

We did offer

Hullaby at backer. This guy's film indicated a versatile player on either side of the ball, but I was mainly thinking RB, WR, or S. Looks like a spin down to get speed on the field.

Karic weighs in at 294 lbs (with a likely redshirt year in the weight room in front of him). So much for his detractors who said he was too light/too small to play OL for us.

I love watching Bijan play. Besides his amazing athletic ability, he just has a magnetic smile. Kind of reminds me of Magic Johnson and how he was always playing the game like he was a kid having fun.

Wishing the best and praying for Boyce that he gets his issues worked out or at least managed. His mental and physical health are way more important than football. God bless him.
