2020 Recruiting - Football

I'm actually nervous that if we lose Drayton, Bijan will want to be released from his LOI. As I understand it Drayton was about 95% of the reason he committed to Texas.

There has been a few comments regarding D Brown. Realizing the nature of his illness, I thought the staff was certain he would be back and possibly ready to play. I have not read anything to the contrary, but has that changed.

With Sam and Card playing QB, I would slot RoJo in at RB with practice reps as QB. With his skill set and football IQ he should be able to take on both positions even better that he performed this year. But we must get Card significant playing time.

What are the chances Drayton is released? Surprised that Craig was terminated as db coordinator after his performance vs Utes. But every coach needs to feel comfortable with coaches on staff or the ones he hires from previous gigs.

22,

How could there possibly be any coach on staff or out there for hire that Herman could/would be more comfortable with than Naivar?

I don't care if Herman is comfortable, I care if Ash is comfortable and the guy he reported to be bringing in sounds like a upgrade in many ways over our previous assistants.

0 chance he's released, he might leave for a NFL gig

So if aTm were to take both Shepherd and Evans (a very big "if"), could you imagine the turmoil, strife, drama, and bullsh!t they will endure off the field?

1.) Either Texas will match or exceed it or Drayton will move on. It is his choice. I do not know if there is any buy out, but I doubt it.

2.) Naviar's contract was not renewed. He was neither fired nor terminated.

Ryan B at TexAgs had this update on Javonne on Wednesday-
"I can tell you for a fact that Texas has made it very difficult surrounding Javonne Shepherd’s recruitment." Not sure what it means.

aggys eat that stuff up. He literally gave zero content and they act like he just wrote the 5th Symphony.

It sounds like Shepherd has flunked out and has to go to juco and they blame the program? Talk about enablers.

i'm pulling for the aggys to get Evans, I want to see the mayhem he is going to bring down on them. I'd give 50/50 odds he shows up on campus with a gun, you know, or protection. What I'm really looking forward to is him getting kicked off the team and getting them back by squeeling to the NCAA about all the stuff they gave him. It's Chris Pryor all over again.

About Effing Time!

All he did was shut down every top WR he played against.
"During his final year at Duncanville, however, Rakestraw locked down five-star prospect Rakim Jarrett and held Ohio State signee Jaxon Smith-Njigba to five catches for 37 yards in the state title game. He didn’t allow a touchdown all season."

Texas offers 3-star CB Ennis Rakestraw

Guess I'm lost on Shep.
Last I heard about two weeks or so ago, he was staying here after all.
What did I miss?

It finally happened

I suspect the reason we were waiting on this offer was to let the new DB have input. If so, then this was Valai's first offer.

With his play against Njigba in the playoffs and probably the Alabama offer, Rakestraw has been getting some ratings bumps -- ESPN now has him #79 in TX
247 moved from from #186 to 105

Lastly, he is supposed to be close friends with JQJ, which cant hurt

Apparently we did offer 4-star RB Kevontre Bradford (Lancaster) before the early signing period. We are behind in this and are trying to get him in for one of his last OVs

Mike Roach had been saying for some time that we would get Bradford if we offered, but it turns out we had already offered him. They didnt know because they say he is mostly inactive on social media. And looks like we are behind both LSU and Wisconsin.

And speaking of 247's Mike Roach, here is his typical response on the Bijan question --

MikeRoach -- The answer is, I don't have one right now. Drayton staying was a big part of the reason the kid signed, but I'm not going to reach out and spook him until we know something for good.
Inside Texas, however, has a completely different take. They say not to worry about Bijan. That Bijan is "wired differently" and will stick with us.

IT goes even one step further seeing the loss of Drayton as a positive because we can now hire a truly "elite recruiter" at RB. This might seem a little odd at first in the same writing talking about holding Bijan Robinson, but if you recall last season, we were sitting empty-handed on signing day finishing a "close second" to several of the top RB recruits who we were supposed to land. We just couldnt close and were extremely lucky to have Brown fall into our laps (and unfortunately even that turned tragic). And then we lucked out again with Johnson's versatility.

Jeezus! All Herman had to do was look at his video.

And there is a Tweet or video with JQJ where he says I'll see y'all real soon. Then came the 'Bama and other offers. Let us hope.

Bijan is fine if Drayton accepts a promotion. If he had been fired, then not so good.

Second is first among the losers. But still a loser. Other than maybe Tre Sanders, I would count Bijan as a serious win for Drayton. According to Bijan, it was Drayton's straight up honest conduct that caused him to consider what aOSU was doing with pressure vs. what UT offered and how Herman and Drayton treated him with complete openness. Bijan understands business and does not require a baby sitter. He has made his decision and set his goals.

I think OL improvements will help Texas close on backs more than anything.
