2020 Recruiting - Football

I'm pretty sure aggy will still take him, they would probably take him if he were a corpse as long as he maintained his 5'star status.

Pretty sure anyone who takes him will likely get under the microscope by the NCAA, I've read that his recruitment has gotten pretty dirty. As I understand it, he's got people all around him expecting a handout.
Ah, the Aglet Bonfire returns, after a fashion. I cannot wait. :beertoast:

So I watched the video, and came away wishing our receivers blocked like those of his team. He has amazing vision and knows how to explode through a hole. He has good speed. He is a definite take and would be a good compliment to Robinson as he seems to have good power.

ATH Kelvontay Dixon of Carthage will OV to Texas Jan 31

This is from Gabe Brooks (Midwest 247 guy) on Dixon

Dixon has already set an official visit for the weekend of Jan. 31 for Texas, which is the overwhelming leader at this time .....

The Jan. 24 weekend could see Dixon make an official visit to UTSA, which is where Dixon's previous primary recruiter at Arkansas -- Jeff Traylor -- now serves as the Roadrunners' head coach. Dixon said he hopes that he can make that schedule work -- Arkansas, UTSA, and Texas official visits in chronological order. However, he emphasized that it is a tentative schedule and things could change.

The industry-generated 247Sports Composite rates Dixon as a four-star recruit ranked No. 15 nationally among 2020 athlete prospects and No. 50 overall regardless of position in the state of Texas for his class. The 247Sports rankings put Dixon higher in both categories: No. 10 nationally among 2020 athletes and No. 35 overall in the Lone Star State.

Dixon, who owns a 10.71-second personal best in the 100 meters, served as Carthage High's top playmaker the past two seasons. The younger brother of Texas running back Keaontay Ingram, Dixon accounted for more than 2,500 receiving yards and almost 40 touchdown catches as Carthage went 30-1 in 2018-19.

As a senior in 2019, Dixon caught 73 passes for 1,223 yards and 20 touchdowns, while rushing 32 times for 234 yards and two TD's for the 16-0 Texas Class 4A Division I state championship team. Dixon's junior campaign saw him snag 84 balls for 1,288 yards and 17 scores. He's averaged 16.0 yards per catch the last two years.

Tentative visit plans for Kelvontay Dixon

Yeah, if he ran kind of slouched over instead of very upright, he would remind me more of ED. Oh btw I am not talking about Eric Dickerson.

Honestly, I always thought that Lil'Jordan reminded me Dickerson. Respected Dickerson's game, but hated him for telling the Oilers to not draft him. Who the hell does that to their home city? Even Lebron picked the Cavs, and that was Cleveland.

Good. Let's take this one from the pigs. He already de-committed from the swine. Choose beef over pork.

Eric Dickerson? He's not from Houston, he's from Sealy which is 50 miles outside of Houston. That'd be like saying people who live in Belton are from Austin. I doubt he had any loyalty to the city of Houston at all.

Apparently we did offer 4-star RB Kevontre Bradford (Lancaster) before the early signing period. We are behind in this and are trying to get him in for one of his last OVs

Sounds like we are gearing up for RoJo to go back to QB and Whittington to go back to WR/slot, and also not expecting Brown to return this season if at all. Also possible portal moves from guys who see little to no playing time at RB. Need to get depth back for the RB room.

If Roschon and Whittington are no longer RBs, and if Derrian Brown isn't back, that leaves our RB room next year looking like this:

Ingram
Bijan Robinson
Danny Young
walkons

(unless we sign another RB)

Funny that SI or someone said Johnston flipped from Texas to TCU to be closer to home. Obviously never been here nor read a map of Texas.

The Smith Street exit into downtown Houston is mile market 769. The Sealy exits are 720-722.

All that’s in Sealy is Port City, which is a valuable resource. I would be tempted to say that there isn’t **** in Sealy, but as long as Dickerson is around, there will always be chicken ****.

Well we can't drop to only 3 rbs. I think if rojo goes to QB he can always go back to rb on a moment's notice. What a great talent and blessing for the team. With that said it would be a very important addition if we can get bradford. I think it might be better if Whitt. went back to receiver because there is less punishment on the body. But we'll see.

There is a great restaurant there for after duck hunting
And I believe there used to be a sort of brothel too (for truckers, it literally had a red light that would be turned on and off)
Other than that, Sealy is rice farmers.

Hinze’s BBQ is good and Tony’s (???) has good breakfast.

The brothel was on the north side of I-10, West of Sealy. It appeared to have been built as a small motel with individual cottages, all cinder block. Management got arrogant and started distributing printed fliers at Memorial and Lee HS in West Houston. It was shut down at the same time The Chicken Ranch was closed.

I hope Marvin Zindler is frying in Hell.

I guess you might be right by 1979 standards, but for me today when i drive from San Antonio, to Houston, the moment I get into Sealy, I basically think I'm in Houston, I don't care how far it is, it's still part of the Greater Houston Metroplex. All of the Sealy TV/Radio stations are out of Houston. I feel the same way when I get to Waxahachie going to Dallas, or New Braunfels going to San Antonio, or San Marcos and Georgetown around Austin.

As a native Houstonian I don't consider myself back in Houston till I hit Katy. Even Brookshire feels a little too far for me.

That would still be a strong group. Ingram is going to get better after a sophomore slump. Young is experienced. And BR is a 5*

Those are good players—even a senior Danny Young. It’s the numbers and lack of depth that concerns me. I agree with the thought expressed above that Roschon can move back to RB in a pinch. The problem is that we’ll have a new OC and It may be more difficult to change positions while still learning the new offense at his main position.

it’s his choice. I’d recommend he stick with RB.
