2020 Presidential Election: let the jockeying commence

So lose weight and drink a lot of milk to help one's chances, huh? Maybe get in the sunlight a lot to boost the effects of the Vitamin D you take in. (not being facetious here). If you have any credible links about the Vitamin D, that would be helpful. I had not heard that yet. Thx.

My wife is on the front lines of this stuff and well read. Vitamin D is probably the most important and many adults don't get enough of it. Also helpful against Covid 19 are Zinc and Vitamin C. All 3 boost and support a healthy immune system.

A study from Spain finally presents the first clinical evidence for the use of vitamin D to treat Covid-19. The study, "Effect of Calcifediol Treatment and best Available Therapy versus best Available Therapy on Intensive Care Unit Admission and Mortality Among Patients Hospitalized for COVID-19: A Pilot Randomized Clinical study,” was published in The Journal of Steroid Biochemistry and Molecular Biology on 29 August. It is called a pilot because the sample size is small, but its randomization and prospective design still make it a robust research.

Ok, ok, ok...

I put a lot of milk in my coffee (1 cup of regular coffee, then 2 cups decaf, each with a big splash of milk, in an average morning), eat plenty of stuff with cheese, and get out in the sun. Also cereal with milk about every other day. My kids drink a lot more milk than I do. We're probably ok.

Remember 60% of deaths are in nursing homes where the patients are likely saddled with diabetes, vitamin deficiency, heart disease and other health issues.

Regardless Dems will say Trump had some window to stop it even though there weren’t enough masks, too many had arrived infected from Europe, and there weren’t enough tests.

Guess I should credit the Vit D AND the hydroxychloroquine. I have been big on vit D for a long time. Didn’t think of it along with Covid till the recent discussions I’ve read about. But I’ll tell you though I kicked it (covid) it was not fun and a loooong term convalescing. I say kicked it because I finally got a negative test but still have cough, eight weeks from positive test.

And chop, the milk won’t do it alone but the sun should. That, the lack of adequate sun exposure, is what they theorize is today’s cause of low vit D I’m so many patients.

I'm not a Dr. of course but I too do all of the things you do and I take a Vitamin D tablet at night and a daily multi-vitamin with D. I play golf almost weekly so I get a fair amount of sun.

I'm in my 60's and very healthy. However, I just had a annual physical and my bloodwork showed my Vitamin D as middle of the good range. I was surprised. I thought it would be much higher on the range.

My point is I suspect all of us should be taking a vitamin D supplement of some kind, especially with the virus still out there. Wife got me taking 5000 MCG per day, FWIW.

If that's how it works, then the nursing homes should get more Vitamin D into the menus, be keeping the window shades open for indirect sunlight, and wheeling the residents out into the sun for frequent, but brief (avoid sunburn), amounts of time. (a non-medical common sense opinion)

No, lose weight and get 20 minutes of sunshine on about 40% of the skin surface of your body. That's more than enough to produce more vitamin D than you need in a day.

Ha! Never thought the bars would be offering Vitamin D shots!

"I'll have a Jack and Coke with a splash of Vitamin D concentrate."

Or maybe White Russians, or Irish Coffee with extra creme become more popular. On a similar subject... on a cold night, hot chocolate (made with whole milk) and rum is quite good.

Nash, just curious if you have a dry or productive cough?

Absent evidence that he broke the law, I never cared about the tax returns. I always thought he should have released them but never considered doing so to be any kind of requirement.
Most people simply do not understand business income and tax strategy. In 1991, I watched a tax manager for a company I worked for completely eliminate corporate income tax by recommending purchase of failed savings and loan banks during that crisis. Tax code allowed the purchasing company to inherit all the losses and apply to their income. Pretty sure that guy got a nice bonus that year.

The media is playing this ignorance up. Besides, any taxes on business generally get passed on to the consumer directly or indirectly. But it sounds good to make big bad corporations "pay their fair share."

Or job cuts.

The media plays into stupidity to drive political narratives all the time whether it's on tax issues or race issues. Even if they don't blatantly lie, they'll tell half-truths, ignore context, and leave out extremely important information.

On a fundamental level, the corporate income tax is stupid. As you said, it gets passed along to consumers like any other business expense. It's essentially a backdoor sales tax. Instead we should just make sure money that leaves the corporation as salaries or dividends gets taxed.

Even more fundamentally, taxing any kind of income is stupid and leads to tax inequities of all kinds because it leaves far too much room for haggling over what constitutes income, what expenses shouldn't be taxed, etc. Things would be a lot simpler if we dumped the whole thing and imposed a sales tax or VAT instead, and voluntary compliance would be almost universal.

Only an absolute idiot or a sick left-wing zealot will deny that the media is coordinating to use the word "Bombshell" in reference to Trump's tax returns. This is an attempted "October Surprise," albeit a day or two early, as the New York Times and Washington Post are officially running the Biden campaign.

The law is the law. I guarandamntee that Bloomberg takes every deduction.

Hey, if Trump committed fraud, then throw the book at him. If he took advantage of the tax laws then call your Congressman.

Many will scoff, but I would think Trump is smart enough to NOT break the law and let his teams of CPAs who are fully immersed in his organization's finances deal with his tax returns and find all the legal deductions, etc.

It is beyond laughable. Yep, just the latest "bombshell", as you said.

Ridiculous.

And, unlike Dem voters, who, in the face of the mountains of evidence against basically the entire Obama admin. and much of his FBI and DOJ of illegal spying, etc., Republican voters for the most part will agree that if Trump intentionally broke the law, he should be prosecuted.

Obama still smugly walks around talking **** when he ought to be in hiding.

Bombshell was agreed upon. I'm convinced now that they coordinate. There is no doubt; as if there ever was.

I notice the IRS accepted and signed off on the returns except for that one 73 million item in dispute. Which is nothing at Trump's level
That eould be like IRS disputing the Clinton reported value of his used underwear

Oh for sure. I know Tucker Carlson shows montages from time to time from multiple outlets with the pundits using the exact same phrases and words when discussing the latest scandal with glee.

I heard a guy yesterday (i forgot who and what channel) say, "I'm not mad at Trump. I'm mad at the system!" Amen. The IRS is a f'ing joke. If I could get away with not paying all of my taxes like them your damn right I would! Who wouldn't!?!?!

Certainly Biden and every other Dem take advantage of the very tax codes "they" write. Again, probably teams of CPAs writing those tax codes and they sign off on it.

Yes, we know the system is rigged. Congress is bought and paid for. Again, the question is this: was Trump's tax liability legal or not? Where is the fraud? There is no allegation or proof. Only the outrage that his deductions sheltered everything. It's a clear classism card being played.
