2019 Recruiting - Football

Sequence of events:

1) USC hires KK as OC

2) Jets & Cardinals ask to interview KK

3) Lynn Swann denies permission

4) McCoy signs with USC

5) KK restrictions are removed

6) McCoy moves into dorm & starts class

7) 48 hours after #6, KK is announced as HC of Cardinals

Did I miss anything or get anything wrong? (other than Tee Martin's involvement)

I should think that any school landing McCoy would be able to make a pretty strong case for (insert your phrase of choice) to the NCAA to allow McCoy to be eligible immediately.

Sort of gives a whole new meaning to "Swann dive". I have friends in SoCal that are USC alums. They are livid with Swann; hence, I recommended Steve Patterson to them, but only to help them not be so tough on Swann's legacy.

:beertoast:
Guess McCoy got tired of the lying.

Joe,

Not reliable for you, but two friends of mine in SoCal who are season ticket holders in The Coliseum, have told me that Swann is gone, and has been told to release McCoy. In a phone call this afternoon, the one who offices downtown LA told me USC has already given McCoy his release.

Swann is one issue for them. But they also have a President problem. And a coach problem.
Does this ring a bell with anyone?

Joe,

I recommended to my friends that we have a replacement for their president, but was quickly told they thought he would be more comfortable in Westwood.

I think everyone there wishes their campus was the one in Westwood and UCLA was the one in South Central. And my impression of USC people is that they are already living in Westwood inside their owns heads

So back on Sep 15, we had 6 out-of-state kids in for the USC game. There were rumors at the time that something might be happening with that group. And we did sign four of them. Bru McCoy is about to become the fifth. The sixth guy was Trey Sanders. It has to make you wonder if Bru had signed with us in the early period if we would have also landed Sanders.

The vast majority o the ones I know live in the Orange County, as do the students. USC ain't cheap.

The girl from 2 doors down just graduated from their law school. She lived on campus the whole time. She said a tiny scene has slowly been building out around the campus, that it is not as bad as it used to be.

I will say this, if you know you are going to be working in big business in that state, then you might as well go there. They have a pretty impressive business alumni network in Calif.

I always thought it was odd that he over justified how USC could offer him more after graduation and that coaching changes really wouldn't bother him. To me it felt like an insincere rationalization for his choice. We'll soon see how serious it was between us and USC if he quickly picks us or if he opens up recruitment. From all the static I see it seems it is no other choice but UT.

If it ends up that we do have back-to-back Top 3 recruiting classes, as it now appears, then it will be hard for anyone to argue that Tom Herman is not among the top recruiters in the country

Indeed, they support each other like Aggies, but go much higher up the food chain. My friend downtown LA, helped me 15 years ago. I needed to lease space in Seattle, but the building of choice was "not now or ever" until he called a friend in Seattle, and in less than an hour I had an appointment to go to Seattle and meet with the building owner face to face. Really a nice guy named Paul Allen, who made a deal in 30 minutes before buying lunch.

Besides, I have never met anyone from Berzerkley that had sense enough to poor piss out of a boot. University of Caucasians Lost among Asians has produced the stupidest BBAs and MBAs I've ever met. That leaves Stanford, whose grads scatter across the country.
