2019 Recruiting - Football

McCoy would topple them
Just when we thought the Bru Mccoy saga was over. SC not having an OC by now couldnt have helped if the rumors are true. Read on an SC board that Helton asked Mccoy to sleep on it and if he still wants to leave tomorrow then he will release him. Wouldnt hurt my feeling to have another 5 star recruit. Not sure of any of its true. Guess we will see.

McCoy sounds like someone who wants a stable coaching staff. I recall an article where he stated more than necessary (like he was trying to convince himself) that it’s part of life to deal with coaching changes, but that doesn’t mean he has to like it or try not to avoid it. I think he is realizing that stability is more important to him than his favorite school. Bru, come on down!

247 does its own rankings (like the recent Tyler Owens 5th star, for example)
But then they do a separate "Composite" ranking combining their own rankings with all the other services too

"The 247Sports Composite Rating is a proprietary algorithm that compiles prospect "rankings" and "ratings" listed in the public domain by the major media recruiting services. It converts average industry ranks and ratings into a linear composite index capping at 1.0000, which indicates a consensus No. 1 prospect across all services.

The 247Sports Composite Rating is the industry's most comprehensive and unbiased prospect ranking and is also used to generate 247Sports Team Recruiting Rankings.

All major media services share an equal percentage in the 247Sports Composite Rating.

The composite index equally weights this percentage among the services that participate in a ranking for that specific prospect.

A composite strength meter, indicated by red bars, illustrates the total number of industry services that have ranked the prospect. A full strength meter indicates the prospect has been ranked by all industry services participating in the composite.

All industry services have a different philosophy on number of "stars" distributed with each class. The 247Sports Composite Rating assigns stars based on an approximate average distribution of stars from the industry.

247Sports Ranking Contribution

247Sports produces ratings and rankings that contribute to the 247Sports Composite. These ratings can also be viewed along side the 247Sports Composite for a comparison.

247Sports has one of the industry’s largest and most recognized national recruiting staffs. Led by industry veterans Barton Simmons and Jerry Meyer (basketball), 247Sports employs a staff of more than 50 reporters, analysts and evaluators that rank the nation’s elite high school football and basketball recruits from multiple class years....."
Joe, you lost me at hello.

IT says JShepherd is on an OV to UGA now
Will OV to Bama next weekend
And is supposed to OV to us the final weekend

Anybody have anything solid on the bru McCoy leaving usc for Texas rumors
..

It's in the 2020 thread. It's my fault. When the surprise big news rumor first hit, i thought it was going to be about a 2020. But it wasnt. But the collection of posts is there.

The 247 rollout of their final rankings is slow, and piecemeal
Washington moved up 50 spots from 195 overall to 145
He is the #24 WR overall, and #3 in MO in the 247 Composite
Our team ranking remains #5

Transfer would have no bearings on recruiting rankings.

Would be the first positive out of the transfer rule.

I'd suffer through getting Bru McCoy and it not changing our recruiting rankings. Lol

Edit : maybe the sites would count him though??

I was wondering that myself. Im with you, ill suffer through. Aggies will still know who their daddy is

Sequence of events:

1) USC hires KK as OC

2) Jets & Cardinals ask to interview KK

3) Lynn Swann denies permission

4) McCoy signs with USC

5) KK restrictions are removed

6) McCoy moves into dorm & starts class

7) 48 hours after #6, KK is announced as HC of Cardinals

Did I miss anything or get anything wrong? (other than Tee Martin's involvement)

I should think that any school landing McCoy would be able to make a pretty strong case for (insert your phrase of choice) to the NCAA to allow McCoy to be eligible immediately.

Sort of gives a whole new meaning to "Swann dive". I have friends in SoCal that are USC alums. They are livid with Swann; hence, I recommended Steve Patterson to them, but only to help them not be so tough on Swann's legacy.
