2019 Recruiting - Football

I always thought it was odd that he over justified how USC could offer him more after graduation and that coaching changes really wouldn't bother him. To me it felt like an insincere rationalization for his choice. We'll soon see how serious it was between us and USC if he quickly picks us or if he opens up recruitment. From all the static I see it seems it is no other choice but UT.

I'm empathetic. I am sure it was tough on him, his favorite school his whole life and multiple friends/former teammates there now. Plus I think his dad was close to Swann. Quite the burden on a 17 year old.

....Besides, I have never met anyone from Berzerkley that had sense enough to poor piss out of a boot. University of Caucasians Lost among Asians has produced the stupidest BBAs and MBAs I've ever met. That leaves Stanford, whose grads scatter across the country.

But UCLA sorority girls are totally hot (says the guy who dated one for several years).

I completely agree with you. He didn't seem to be completely comfortable with his choice to me. I'm just being cautious that Texas was absolutely his other choice.

I bet we get Jevon. I think he is enjoying the show. I could be wrong. If you really like the scene, you go to College Station?

If we do sign Bru he will be tied (big Malcolm Brown) for the 9th best recruit since 2000 according to 247. Pretty cool item they have on every teams page.
Take a guess on our best recruit ever?

These guys are so full of P———- envy they can’t recall what they are unhappy about. First off, having to he #1, or#2, or #3 recruiting class doesn’t put any awards on the wall. For this year, it’s just hopes. In the early 2000’s aTm’s called Mack Brown “Coach February” well, enough February’s did lead to a flag on the wall! Get over who’s 4-star or 5-star. Does anybody even remember D’andre Jones? Play up and win NC’s. Not changing dates on a stadium!

As far as out of state guys go, I think Jordan Hicks had a higher individual rating than Bru. I am not sure where Ricky came in - I think he was considered a FB coming out
Joe you have forgotten more about recruiting than I will ever know...
You are correct, Hicks was a 996, Bru and Big Malcom 944. Ranked 9th.
They have VY as a perfect score, not sure either on Ricky.
Pretty cool to look at some schools over the years, and their top recruits. Several pure busts.

I saw Vince play a HS game in the Astrodome - you could tell then. Anyone with functioning eyeballs could tell. LOL

He will start out at WR for us
A lot of people think he has NFL LB ability but WR is his choice
Bru is one of those rare electrifying playmakers on offense, so I'd say only move him to LB if there is a dire need at that position. Speaking of electrifying playmakers on offense, we'll have the top ones from Texas (Whittington), California (Bru McCoy), and Arizona (Jake Smith) in this class.

Any of the three could also take some snaps at RB as needed, and create nightmare match-up problems running pass routes out of the backfield.

I went over to TEXAGS to see the commotion. Seriously, I think the smarter ones are sitting this one out and as a result the more stupid ones are posting about recruiting classes. You would think the aggys have been ranked in the top 5 more than once in the last 50 years (thank you JFF!).

Joe,
Not reliable for you, but two friends of mine in SoCal who are season ticket holders in The Coliseum, have told me that Swann is gone, and has been told to release McCoy. In a phone call this afternoon, the one who offices downtown LA told me USC has already given McCoy his release.
:hookem2:

There have been several anecdotal accounts like this in the last 24 hours. There was one guy who said his buddy in LA was at the chiropractor. The doc saw his USC sweatshirt and told him he was a neighbor of the McCoys and they were already packing Bru's stuff up. People made fun of the poster, of course. But now it sounds like dude was telling the truth.

Our coaches let the player make the choice. The assistants go over everything with them, including where they stand on the depth chart. And position coaches get to make their individual pitches to come to their side of the ball. But we leave the final decision to the kid.

If Bru runs a 4.6 forty which someone stated, but I think he's a little faster, then I would prefer to see him at linebacker. He would certainly bring athleticism and smarts to the position. Plus he'll have a year to get stronger. I think we are solid at wr while a little thin at lb.

Joe, absolutely love this insight. I always wondered how teams did this or more specifically how we did it. Obviously some are better than others, imo Mack might have been the best we will ever see.
We all want stars, but forget the horses already in the stable.
The position coach knows best, what he needs, and fit.

Jerry Gray was perhaps the most football smart player I ever met. He likely was the best safety in our school's history. He ran down Bo, albeit at an angle, he knew the angle to take. No car in the history of our school has been investigated or scrutinized as closely as his BMW.

Jerry Gray was all pro

Jerry Gray ran a 4.6

Everyone says this but I really was at the Auburn game when he caught Bo Jackson. I was in the upper deck. Had the perfect line of sight for the whole thing. From there, it looked like he had better than 4.6, at least on that play. It was one of those moments in time that stick in your mind and never leaves.
