2018 Roster

OB says Devin and Donovan Duvernay are "not leaving Texas anytime soon."
Both are participating in winter conditioning and are supposed to participate in spring practice. Things can always change but our staff does not think they will leave anytime soon.
Reggie leaving May have changed his mind

FYI. I’ve seen Freeman off of some rosters. Have to wait till Spring practice, I suppose.

He is on there for now, but I have heard the same. Duvernays as well. There are several others whose class status is uncertain. I put a "?" by some of them. So, while there likely will have to be corrections later, its a good snapshot of today

I think Ingram will be the first to start on offense, but I expect Rising to start by OU. I expect to see a lot of Woodard, Eagles, Foster, Sterns, Coburn, Green as the season progresses.

Everyone, including myself, seems to discount Thompson, but the kid has stayed true to is commitment against extreme pressure in the Dust Bowl. I was hoping he could redshirt and learn the system, but he could be the darkhorse of this class.

How sweet would it be for him to beat OU?

I don't see the true freshman QBs starting this year, unless there's an injury. But Boo and Sam both were constantly injured last year so maybe the chances are good.

what is it about Rising that you think moves him ahead of Buechele and Ehlinger

I predicted that in the first half of last year's OU game. Hoping he can read a defense :deadhorse:

He's got plenty of targets to throw to, if the coaches learn the advantage of the no huddle offense.

What are you smoking? :smokin:

I think Young will be the starting RB. But With carter and Ingram it will be a 3 headed monster. I think Porter will be a third down back because he knows his blocking assignments. If Young and Ingram can get the pass blocking assignments down, then with their size and pass catching ability they could take the PT away from Porter.
I think our RB's will be strong. Our run game could be really good if, (IF) our O line improves significantly ( Calvin Anderson at left tackle and Hudson healthy).

Don't know why anyone would discount Thompson. He, by all accounts, looks like a perfect fit for the offense Herman likes to run...and a very good looking QB with a good pedigree.

Perhaps "discount" was a poor choice of words. There has been much discussion about almost every recruit and very little about Thompson. I agree that he is likely a better fit for Herman's offense than Rising, but Rising has a better arm.

Sorry, Sabre. Since you brought up the subject on which I was posting, I should have clarified that I did not think you were saying that he necessarily SHOULD be discounted. Think we are on the same page. Bottom line is we are about to see a kind of quarterback competition the likes of which Texas (say it like Cory Redding) has not seen in quite some time. No one should discount that.

Herb Hand is supposed to be cross-training everyone
The OL will be shifting alot b/w now and then

We presently have no backup center for Shack, so almost everyone is being considered. Some think Elijah Rodriguez might be the starter at center by Game 1

TE Garrett Gray is leaving
He has one year of eligibility remaining as a 5th year senior

The TEs now are Andrew Beck, Cade Brewer, Reese Leitao, Malcolm Epps and converted DE Max Cummins

Well, for once, we seem to be a little stacked at TE.
Good luck to him.

Suspect with solid blocker Beck returning for his Sr. year and some serious competition coming from Brewer & Leitao, etc., he prolly figgered he will get limited PT his last year.
