2018 Recruiting - Football

Sounds like we will get a visit from Moro Ojomo
This is good, we need to reel in this guy
With bowl prep over, Washington can now help out Giles on the recruiting trails

On the not so good front, CBs are coming in for Texas targets Nik Bonitto and Danial Carson to ou, aka, the Chip Brown fallout. In fact, reading between the lines, it sound like Bonito is already signed with ou and did so within 24 hours of the ou coaches sending him the Chip Brown hit piece. He just wants to wait until the UA Game to announce it. Until that moment, he was signing with us

How is he still employed? Herman will have him fired or killed

Recruit reactions

DB Caden Sterns, Cibolo Steele (2018) - "Great win. There's more wins to look forward to!"

DB DeMarvion Overshown, Arp (2018) - "This is just the start of something big."

OL Reese Moore, Seminole (2018) - "Good win! Defense did a really good job, and Dickson was phenomenal."

TE Malcolm Epps, Spring Dekaney (2018) - "It's just the beginning of a new era."

QB Roschon Johnson, Port Neches-Groves (2019) - "Great team win. The defense really stepped up when they needed it and the offense was on and off throughout the game."

LB DaShaun White, Richland (2018) - "Seeing them do the "In the bag" celebration was hilarious. It was probably my highlight of the game, and it shows how cool (Tom) Herman is. Linebackers played great as they always do."

WR Garrett Wilson, Lake Travis (2019) - "They're defense looked impressive as always. It's starting to look like things are getting figured out, and they're ready to be back at that high level."

DB Xavier Player, Cibolo Steele (2019) - "I think it was a really great game, and an awesome win for Texas. The DBs locked down out there with two interceptions. It makes me excited for the program, and I would love for the opportunity to be a part of it."

DB Jonathan McGill, Coppell (2019) - "They were creating turnovers and I feel that is the reason they won. When you can flip the field and put them inside the 10 yard line, that is huge."

WR Elijah Higgins, Austin Bowie (2019) - "Their defense was amazing today. They kept Missouri from getting anything going offensively for the most part, and I feel like that had a huge impact on the game. Also, Dickson's punting was ridiculous tonight, and Missouri couldn't figure out a way to get past midfield. I also noticed an entirely different energy on the field than there was week one against Maryland. That's all Texas needs to get going. UT is gonna be up top real soon. They have a great 2018 recruiting class, and they are going to continue to excel in the recruiting aspect of the program for many more years to come."

WR Jaylen Ellis, Round Rock Cedar Ridge (2019) - "They played with fight, they knew they had this. The future is bright, seeing those DBs ball like that was special. Those boys are dogs."

OL Branson Bragg, Crandall (2019) - "It was a great game. Defense looked to really step up, and I was worried about the offensive line without Connor Williams, but they definitely performed well enough to win."

ATH Marquez Beason, Bishop Dunne (2019) - "They have been playing great. They have a great chance of winning next year."

CB Chris Steele, Bellflower (Ca.) St. John Bosco (2019) - "Coach (Jason) Washington is one of the best coaches in the country. I love the way those DBs are playing. They look prepared. Texas is definitely DBU."

I like this guy, but the force seems strong with aggy

Chip Brown is a friggin F Tard.

It is possible our purported grad transfer OL has been identified.
OL coach Derek Warehime recently started following OT Calvin Anderson (6'5,285) on twitter. He is Rice's starting LT as a RS JR. He played his high school at Westlake. And he was also just named 2nd team All Conference-USA, according to the good folks at Pro Football Focus. He was also Honorable Mention All C-USA in 2016, as named by the league coaches. His profile says he has run a 40 in 4.90.

Not that we need an experienced LT or anything.

He is a bright kid (majoring in Mathematical Economic Analysis) and his grandfather was also a pro athlete (tennis). And, oh yeah, can solve a Rubik's Cube behind his back

Potential grad transfer (and potential 2018 Texas starting LT) Calvin Anderson liked some tweets by Poona Ford and Coach Warehime after our bowl game

Interesting new prospect
Apparently we are in the mix for

He is at the UA All-American Game --

Tyrese Johnson-Fisher is a rugby and track athlete from London, participating in the Under Armour All-America game this week as a running back. He was found after sending his rugby and track film to the event organizers of the Elite 200 in Germany. He's heard from Penn State, Texas and Coastal Carolina.

but can he punt?

interesting. like drafting a world class sprinter for nfl wr. it's hard to see how elite he is versus THOSE opponents.

If we sign just Coburn and Ingram and add C. Anderson (seems good plus we’re desperate) as a grad transfer, I’d be very happy. They’re at positions of serious need and we don’t seem to have much traction with other players at the same positions. Maybe I’m wrong there though.

If Moore signed too, I’d start believing in god.

Also, to Chip Brown: F off

Jason Suchomel says Coburn said he's "nearly 100%." But is looking at taking some visits. Also, during the pre-game stuff, Rivals has the players try on the hats of all the schools the player might eventually commit to. For his, Coburn tried on Texas, TCU, aggy and piglet hats.

Ingram said he is "100%." He said he might take an OV to USC, but "probably won't."

latest on Moore?

4-star WR Joshua Moore from Yoakum says after decommitting from Nebraska, he is officially done with the Cornhuskers. Moore’s brother Jordan is committed to aggy, and Jimbo Fisher recruited Moore heavily while at FSU.

We are supposed to be trying to make a late tun at 5-star OT Nick Petit-Frere out of Florida, along with every other program in the country. Our coaches asked our commits at Under Armour All American Game to work on him. We offered way back, and he does follow several Texas-related twitter accounts. Great player but probably nothing

Epps is also pretty funny in interviews
Should be a fun player going forward
Not that we need a TE or anything
