2018 Recruiting - Football

I think so. He made the entire line better. Next year, LT is a complete unknown.

We were two or three dumb freshman QB choices (or play calls if you prefer) away from 8-4 or even 9-3. The perception of the 2017 would be so different then
Until they came across one of the worse defenses in FBS (sand aggy). Some of the HS O lines playing at AT&T this weekend probably could have handled sand aggy better than the Williams lead effort.

Uh, interesting conflict

Back a$$wards, but in the compliance world that is how things work. You have to show control over people you are expected to have control over. This would include the dreaded "friends of the university" that dogs recruiting compliance. Texas Compliance doesn't know who is behind most personal tweets so they have to come out with tweets such as this to cover their a$$ in case some "hurt" family member files against a tweeter who they think is associated with the university.

I think most of the bad stuff is fake fans. Some sheep farmer creates a twitter with a throwaway email and calls herself 'PortlandHorn' or some such nonsense. Then writes something to make the rest of us look bad. Doesnt this sound exactly like what some aggy would do? I think one of their guys got caught this very thing this year, this, and maybe even fired for it.

Totally agree Joe, but the Compliance office has to show they are taking an active interest to stopping this. As I said the issue is some mom who feels that a certain group targeted her son creating mental anguish, and the Feds will be on the case forthwith.

aggy is 7 spots behind Baylor

I have to admit after a disappointing 6-6 record I was worried about how the recruiting would be impacted but even with Coburn and Ingram not yet signing this class is stacked and I think we get both of the unsigned eventually and if Herman is right that there will be 7-8 more in February then his first full class establishes Herman and his staff as premier recruiters. That needs to translate on the field but a top 5 recruiting class is a heck of a good sign.:hookem:

Potential Rondale Moore replacement
We will try and get him to OV in January

Was on my list from earlier of potential alternates
Replacements?
Jaylen Waddle (unlikely, too many i$$ues)
Craig Williams (waited too late, going to Baylor)
Lawrence Keys
Tazhawn Henry
Julon Williams
Jawhar Jordan (Miami commit)
Josh Moore
Kalon Barnes

Ju$t wonder how in the world Georgia pulled that one off. Swiping five stars from other teams? That is an incredible amount of talent.

The UGA class is staggering, especially considering the returners they will return. That defense reminds me so much of Aker's defenses in his first 6-7 years. God just imagine what his teams would have been if he recruited the way it was being done in Norman, Hooterville, on the Hilltop and on Cullen Blvd. You would start to see other defenses with their hands on their hips gasping for air. In other words....they were done.

If we can somehow manage to real in both Rice grad transfer Anderson and JUCO OT Jamir Johnson, to go along with JUCO OT Grandy and the 3 ESPN300 high school OLs were just signed (Angilau, Moore, Ghirmai), I may have to take back some of the things I've written and thought about Warehime.

Does not look so good at the moment for Jahmir Johnson

2018 RB commit Keaontay Ingram of Carthage will be on display at 11am on FSSW,,,,,,,,,,ovber 5000 yards, 80 td's and at least 1 state title..........Carthage has been on a helluva run, if they win today it will be 6 titles in 10 years.

Well we were hearing that Brandy was off to UCLA and we reeled him in. If this guy is a player then hopefully Herman can convince him.

True. Those 3 schools he lists are where he has already taken OVs
I think we have him already set for an OV to Austin in Jan. So, we still have a legitimate shot.

The #1 JUCO LT was Badara Traore who LSU snagged from our grasp
One of the advantages he had was early signing and Jan enrollment, which let him go though Spring practice and learn the offense

Jahmir Johnson will lack that opportunity as he will still be at the JUCO in the Spring. Nonetheless, he is probably the #2 LT in the JUCO ranks. He moves pretty well for a guy his size in the film.

I will always remember Mack Brown's 2010 recruiting class, which like this Georgia class, was chock full of 5-stars. It was called Mack Brown's best and maybe even the greatest for UT all-time.

But it did not turn out that way. Only one guy from all those high rankings was even drafted, 6th year player Jordan Hicks (and not until the 3rd round). This 2010 disaster is a big part of where Brown and staff got the reputation of going by the rating services and phoning in scholiie offers from the golf course. No doubt it played a role in their subsequent departure.

The guy looks really good. Also, who is their #5? The guy looks like a player.

Ingram wearing Adrian peterson's #28. Glad he didn't follow him to Norman!

We are still after several more DLs besides Coburn and, based on what Herman said, we expect to sign some more
DT Moro Ojomo (just starting to blow up nationally, will be a battle)
DE Courtre Alexander (most CBs to us but EJHolland just moved his to cloudy)
DE Daniel Carson (not sure if we gave up here)
DE Vernon Jackson (might prefer RB)
It's going to be a battle for all of the top players at all positions who did not sign early. Programs will be trying to poach our guys just as hard as we will be trying to poach theirs.

Here is some IT snippets on these targets --

Defensive line:

Katy's Moro Ojomo, Boling's Vernon Jackson, and Owasso's Courtre Alexander are the top targets Texas is still in the running for. Daniel
Carson from Missouri is another one the staff is pursuing but there doesn't seem to be much movement with him. He does play things close to the vest, however.

Ojomo will probably be offered by OU after the Sooners miss on Bobby Brown. That will make it a three horse race with the Aggies and Texas (I've also heard he likes TCU where his former teammate Corey Bethley plays on the d-line). This is basically a brand new recruitment that's just getting started. You might be able to pack a calendar's worth of plot twists in the next month and a half. Because the recruitment is just getting started A&M's new staff isn't really at a disadvantage. Word is definitely getting out on Ojomo, who picked up a Notre Dame offer last night. He's only 16 but is a no-nonsense player I think would thrive in Herman's program.

With the pitch being made on offense I think A&M will be the team to beat for Jackson. That's always been his preference and Fisher can credibly sell the need and usage. He's a fantastic talent but Texas has a lot to overcome. Since Boling is in Oscar Giles' territory he should have a great relationship with Jackson but whether he does remains to be seen.

Alexander was pretty close to signing with Texas. Some family members were in his ear about taking the bird in hand but he wanted to let things play out. The Arkansas offer could be big. This is another brand new recruitment with nobody having the relationship advantage. Arkansas is only two hours away.

It would be tough to pick Texas outright in any of the above recruitments.
