2018 Recruiting - Football

Good write-up on a key recruit by TFB (I made a couple edits)

Ayodele Ayodele
will visit Texas on No 11
He will also visit LSU.
These are the only visits he has planned.

– LSU and Texas have an advantage in that Ayodele’s brother played for or was recruited by both Arranda (LSU DC) and Orlando (Texas DC) so his brother will vouch for both of those coaches. That has always been the draw for him to Texas and LSU. I am told that when word went around that Ayodele was considering a flip, Ayodele’s brother stepped in.

– Texas also has the advantage of Ayodele’s uncle living in Houston. He visits there from time to time.

ou has a few advantages as well though.
– Ayodele wants to be a pilot and ou is the only one of those three schools that has a aviation program. That’s actually a pretty big deal.

– Another draw is that ou have let Ayodele know that they will have an opening at the MLB position. Ayodele is an early enrollee. ou told Ayodele that current freshman LB, Kenneth Murray will likely get moved to the WILL spot leaving the MIKE open for competition.

– The commitment of Ronnie Perkins obviously works in ou’s favor. The situation went from Ayodele recruiting Perkins to Texas to Perkins recruiting Ayodele to ou. Both guys are alphas though, so I don’t know how much this will really factor in.

Bottom line here is that Texas held off a flip and will get the visit they wanted. That is incredibly significant for Texas. – (Super K)

Badara Traore: As you know by now, this weekend, Texas will host JUCO OT, Badara Traore (ASA College). Sources on the Texas side tell us that Traore is an absolute take....

The recruiting gurus say Traore does not talk much so they didnt get a read.
He has taken 2 OVs -- us and Auburn, and the Auburn visit was July.
So that part is good but he still can take more visits. The gurus think our main competition is going to be LSU. He is getting several CBs to LSU

If we can hold who we have (not a certainty at this point), add Cook and Traore, we will have a very good class
Still, would be better with more OLs and DLs
Winning more games probably would not hurt

Dang Joe, you’ve been busy. That’s a lot of info you’re delivering today on recruiting. Great job.

This loss is probably going hurt us in recruiting
The pitch from other programs may sound better now
We have a great class so far, especially in terms of certain positions, but it's going to be tough to hold everyone with as bad as we looked on the field
We will see

Luke Ford will also OV this weekend
#2 TE in country
Not that we need a TE or anything
But Bama and maybe Georgia the current favs

Ayodele Ayodele will visit Texas on Nov 11.....

4-star Ayodele Adeoye: 'I'm 100-percent committed to Texas'

KP: You’re committed to Texas; is that commitment 100 percent?
AA: Yes, I’m 100-percent committed to Texas.

KP: How’s your relationship with the coaching staff there?
AA: I mostly just deal with coach Todd Orlando and we’ve had a good relationship since day one. Of course he recruited my brother a few years back so I’ve known him for a while.

KP: I know you’re 100-percent committed to Texas but you’re still taking some visits. You were at Oklahoma recently; how was that visit?
AA: The Oklahoma visit was good. I went with great people and got to talk to a lot of the staff but like I said, I’m still 100-percent committed to Texas.

KP: Any particular reason why you’re still taking visits then?
AA: To me it’s not that big of a deal if I want to go visit another school. It’s just a visit.

KP: You took an unofficial visit to Florida and its head coach was just fired. Have they been in contact at all?
AA: I talked to coach (Tim) Skipper a couple weeks ago but I haven’t talked to him since the coaching change. Coach Skip just checks in once in a while so I’m not too concerned with it.

KP: As it stands right now, Texas has 13 four-stars coming in next year. What are your expectations for the 2018 season?
AA: We plan on coming in next year and winning the Big 12. It’s just straight to the point. I don’t have any other expectations outside that. I want to impact the team right away as a freshman.

Dec 15 will be big recruiting weekend

Back in the 2016 class we saw Charlie Strong bring in a huge group of recruits that totaled around 20 guys on a weekend in January for official visits. There were a lot of big name guys in that group, that one thing about them was that the majority of them weren’t committed publicly. A lot of those guys ended up signing with the Longhorns though.

It seems like Tom Herman and his staff will have a similar type weekend in December. After talking to some people, December 15th will be a huge recruiting weekend for Texas. The reason for this is pretty simple. Some of Texas’ biggest recruiters are guys like Caden Sterns, BJ Foster, and Casey Thompson. All three of those guys are enrolling early at Texas and the major dead period before signing day is from December 18th to January 11th. Those three commits will have enrolled at Texas by the time the dead period ends, so it makes sense for the staff to get a lot of other recruits on campus with these 3.

The main difference is that the majority of the recruits that will be on campus are already committed to Texas. That’s the main difference in this class and the group Charlie Strong brought in late in the 2016 class. It will still be a big weekend, regardless. – (Andrew)

4-star LB DaShaun White will visit Texas this weekend
He is aggy commit but recognizes a coaching change may be in the works so he's making extra visits in preparation of that possibility

New CBs today for 5-star CB Anthony Cook to the good guys
No. 1 player in TX
