2018 Recruiting - Football

...From what I read, you think we will have 4 interior OL for our six interior two-deep. Hopefully, they transition from their current position well.....

If we accept the idea that Kerkstetter's optimal position is OG (probably as a starter) then we would have 12 interior OLs for 2018 (not counting incoming freshmen). If we were not desperate at OT and just wanted to create our best 2-deep at OG for 2018, it would look something like --
Shakleford/Vahe and Kerstetter/McMillon (with Hudson as the darkhorse).

Vance is calling for us to go out of state for OLs

i get your point, but you are missing mine, which is AFTER 2018. No Vahe. No McMillon.
also, do you not think shackleford remains at Center? if not, who are the two centers?

we need six high quality interior lineman (according to both of our calculations) after 2018. i don't see them on our team or in the 2018 recruiting class.

2019 looks to be much better in state for OLs -- lots of big bodies.
Winning some games between now and then would help in this effort ......

Is Bohls a reader here?
interesting timing

If you dont want to look
1. Texas’ offensive line, as it is currently made up, is the worst in school history.
False.
But it may be in the conversation. One Texas ex told me he’s seen better high school lines than this group.
The Longhorns have had to play a true freshman at tackle, rotate two other tackles who weren’t good enough to win starting jobs, and are without an All-American at left tackle, and their right tackle who’d won the starting nod in August, their best backup in Patrick Hudson and a good blocking tight end. What’s Tom Herman to do, blast the group as a pitiful blocking unit? He can’t really afford to go out on that limb. Honesty has its consequences.

I know they want to be on winners, but I'd assume top OL recruits would be chomping at the bit for the early playing time and exposure they'd get here. Connor certainly availed himself of those two things and he became the top name in college OL as a junior. He did that without ever having a winning season.

Dom Wood-Anderson decommitted on twitter
Been rumored for awhile
We remain the TE Desert

He probably got nervous about how we use the tight end. Even when Tom Herman talks about how critical the position is Cade Brewer only has 5 receptions. We refuse to target a tight end and even use the middle of the field for any receiver.

TFB on Joseph Ossai

– Texas still maintains a slight lead over TAMU. Exact words were, “UT has pulled ahead overall by just a little. I’m not sure though how he feels about those slight margins of loss.”

– Was told that overall the visit was awesome but a “heartbreaking last play by the freshman though”.

– Am told that Ossai will likely take his official visit to TAMU this weekend.

– I am also told that if Ossai does indeed take his OV to TAMU this weekend then expect a commitment announcement to come approximately one week after that. Exact words were, “he will decide one week after next week’s official visit to A&M”. Meaning, we could find out word on where Ossai is headed by early November. – (Super K)

Some quotes from Cameron Rising after his OV --

“It’s definitely got an attractive look with the quarterback situation being an up for grabs kind of deal. I’m ready to go in there and compete. I’m really excited, and that’s putting it lightly."

“When I get there in January, I’m going to really work on understanding the game plans and why Coach Beck makes the calls he does and learning the offense.”

“They want someone that can extend plays and make all the passes. They want someone who can do what both Shane and Sam do rolled up into one person.”

“I feel like the visit strengthened my commitment a little bit. I liked that I got to spend more time with the coaches and the players. But schools like LSU, Michigan and Arizona State are still talking to me.”

4-star DT Bobby Brown (Arlington Lamar) -- Bama has a plurality of the CBs, but aggy is the more recent fav

"Nik Bonitto: Texas hosted 2018 LB, Nik Bonitto (Fort Lauderdale, FL) this past weekend and he came away impressed. “It was amazing. The environment overall was great and the staff just really welcomed me in. And I really got along with the commits that were there this weekend”.

Based on my conversations with sources on the Texas side it sounds like Bonitto is a guy they like and if they pushed for a commitment they could land him. In fact one source said that Bonitto made that clear to the staff.

But right now the staff seems to be content waiting and my guess is they’re waiting to see what Joseph Ossai decides. Both Bonitto and Ossai appear to be vying for the same spot. – (Super K)"

A couple of national guys put in CBs of 5-star Anthony Cook to Texas yesterday...

Two more CBs of Cook to Texas today
One was 247 natl guy Steve Wiltfong
The other was an tOSU guy conceding

He announces Monday -- although there is some thought he may delay for a few weeks
He is an EE so cant/wont delay very long
The idea seems to be LSU is making a hard push
