World series

Finally laid to rest the demons of 2011. Bruce Bochy is a legend, 11-0 on the road in the post season, the money for Seaver and Semien just paid off, so many storylines and I mean it is going to take a while to process what we have seen the last month and frankly this whole year.

MrD
You stayed awake for this. :bounce1::bounce2::bounce1::bounce2::bounce1::bounce2::yippee::yippee::yippee:

Yes, I did. 3:40 a.m. right now. I'm exhausted, but I'm friggin' giddy. Lol. It may take a day or two for this to sink in. I know some have waiting longer, but I've been waiting for 39 years.

It all started in August of 1984 when my family moved from Oakland, CA to Plano. It was a long, long road. I got to see Larry Parish, Ruben Sierra, Nolan Ryan, Pudge, Rafael Palmeiro, Juan Gonzalez, Jeff Russell, Kenny Rogers, Ken Hill, AROD, Josh Hamilton, and other great players. But I also saw a lot of crap. I saw a lot of Chan Ho Parks and Prince Fielders (free agent busts) and a ton of Donald Harrises, Ruben Mateo's, and Scott Chiamparinos (supposedly promising prospects who flopped). It made for a lot of teams that played just well enough to lose. Not anymore. Finally, the 39-year wait is over. I'm a fan of a championship baseball team.

Listening to 105.3 post game online, Nadel said Leclerc "was not available " to come in the 9th. That was why bradford was warming up beside him

Whewww. Thank you sborz !

As Jackie Gleason would say, How Sweet It Is

I've been waiting 52 years.

Like H2RA, the scrappy 1974 Billy Martin Ranger team has always been my favorite ....
until tonight!

I'm so proud of what this scrappy wild card team did to go all the way to the championship!

BOOM! Tampa Bay, Baltimore, Houston, Arizona!!!

I'm still not only numb but I have a headache. I never have headaches but I do tonight - probably my pesky blood pressure.

However, I sippin' some wine in a splendid state of mind!!! I dont want this moment to end.

WORLD CHAMPIONS!!!

:trophy: :trophy: :trophy:

As a Spurs growing up in San Antonio watching them for decades make runs only to bump into the Showtime Lakers, have decent teams but never get far, or just outright suck, I'll never forget the feeling in '99 when they FINALLY won it all. I had tears running down my cheeks when the local TV station showed the plane landing at SAT bringing the team and trophy back. I'm not a Rangers fan but I kind of imagine that's how you guys are feeling and I'm incredibly happy for you after all these years.

CONGRATS RANGERS AND RANGERS FANS!!

Interesting

"Zac Gallen's unraveling in the seventh inning was predictable: Gallen became the first pitcher in baseball history to no-hit an opponent through six innings with his team facing elimination in the World Series, per The Athletic. However, without support from his offense, Gallen's gem went to waste. Worse yet, stats predicted his ultimate slip-up, leading to the first run of Game 5, swinging the momentum in the Rangers' favor.

After holding the Rangers hitless through six, Gallen faced the Texas lineup for the third time, which has usually led to poor results for the Diamondbacks right-hander. Gallen is less effective when a lineup sees him for the third time. There's no way manager Torey Lovullo would have pulled his ace with a no-no in the Fall Classic, but the stats should've led to more urgency from his teammates with bats.

Arizona finished an abysmal 0-for-9 with runners in scoring position."

A whole new thread could spin out of this. Facing batters for the 3rd time is a big advantage to hitters. It's been a hot topic on mlb tv shows for over 10 yrs and I agree. The az pitching coach has been interviewed multiple times about how their pitchers game plan vs individual hitters. But the more a batter sees you the less effective you are.

It's different now. Bob Gibson, koufax et al didn't face today's hitters. If they did they'd have to change their approach.

Bill James book is a good read, not everyone will agree but 80 pitches (nowadays) should be the limit, or twice around the lineup. Baseball people are coming around to the thought that a starter "going 5 innings to get my win" is soon to be in the past. 27 outs is the goal
