That ain't a bad thing. Both of those men are incredibly intelligent, not just athletics, but also in business. Barry ain't hurtin and hasn't been since he left OU. He took the Cowboy job for one year to help his old friend Jerry. When Jerry couldn't get anyone to take the job, Barry accepted a renewal, BUT that time he "took" Jerry.
OTF reported with a high-level of confidence that around April, CDC drove in is wife’s car to College Station to visit and stay with Shloss.
Last time CDC pulled a rival coach - how’d that work out? I’d explain how he’s qualified, but don’t have the time to educate you.
This is hilarious - the numbnuts over at TexAgs just now realizing that they are going to poach a coach from another school who is under contract, much like Texas did to them.
The smart move would probably be for the ags to get the guy at DBU. Alas, the Ags are not well known for making the smart move ...
Places (they may be considering) that I'd rather coach baseball at than aTm: and even...............................
I've said several times that this is mostly Trev Alberts fault, so he needs to put it in high gear and make a splash hire. Unfortunately, sources tell me that his first two choices are not available - Tommy Lasorda & Billy Martin.
If they try to money whip Skip Johnson, I think he might just stay at OU. He's built up a solid foundation in Norman and he's done it himself. Johnson would probably be more of a recruiting threat on the Brazos than in Norman...? (Because of Greater Houston & SE Texas.) Right here and now, I think we're usually getting 1st pick of the DFW guys (who don't go pro right away), with Johnson at OU taking 2nd pick, along with the ags, Pigs, LSU, TCU and a bunch of other folks. (although LSU has been able to go anywhere and buy the best-of-the-best lately)
For the rare and misguided malcontents who didn't like Pearce--nobody can say recruiting was his problem. We've been out-recruiting just about everyone not named LSU.
Skip is an interesting possibility. Normally, I would think he would not be interested, BUT without Dr Boren and the program facing financial problems, he might jump. FWIW, yes, I think working for the new OU president is worse than working for Alberts, that is IF Alberts survives this.
That's interesting. Skip Johnson is one of those guys like Van Horn at Arkansas, that you can't stand his team, fans, or program, but you've got to kind of admire the coach. He's a good one. I'd rather he stay put at OU.
I am of the opinion that nothing will save Alberts now, but he would probably get great personal satisfaction from "stealing" from OU.
