Week 6 Prediction Thread: OU vs Texas...OU Mucher Than Suckage

Watching and listening to espn and other programs, one would think Blow U is the greatest team in college fb history and Texas has no chance at all tomorrow.
I guess since Acho is paid by espn, he has to follow the script.

If our defense has a weakness this season, it's in the secondary. Big plays are going to happen against any defense; I'd say we've given up 1-2 more than we should have so far.

We've absolutely stuffed the run this season. Not so much on the passing game, although we tend to stiffen in the red zone. If we can get some pressure on Gabriel and the secondary holds up, we win going away. If not, it's a nail-biter.

My safe pick is Texas 31, OU 24.
they gonna pass deep cause they have quick receivers. secondary will be tried.

Merry Red River Longhorn Nation!

Horns 35
Bummers 21

The wave behind the pumping up of the Longhorns nationally is strong. It harkens me back to a rainy car ride in downtown Dallas on October 7, 2000 where the horns were a 7+ point favorite and I was griping to my wife that we were going pay good money to get up at the *** crack of dawn to go sit in the rain and essentially watch a prison rape. Turns out I was wrong, Q scores again, and I was the most gracious Sooner fan around the two Longhorns that sat in front of us for the first half. You just never know. We got back to Bridgeport Tx to pick up the 2 and 3 year old and they had been taught to "hook'em". The next year at church they were learning sign language and my daughter told them that they couldn't do the sign for "I love you" because "my daddy said it's bad".

Anyway, I'm hopeful. I'm going down for debauchery with the college friends. I'm getting a feeling that the national media may be hyping you guys up a little much. I just want a good game and I hope it is our first of two for this last season in the conference.

Prediction time... I'm gong to say:

Wyle E. Coyote's: 27
Road Runners: 34

Hook’em

if we would have lost I was happy that they put up a fight and had the goal line stand. Rematch in December. Driving north now.

Congrats - you earned a poop-free week of posts.

Congrats on the win, OUBubba. Your team had an excellent game plan and they executed it well. Their intensity was admirable. Have a safe trip back home. Hope to see a rematch in the Big XII Championship game in Arlington.

Also, I would [hook'em] many of your positive posts but as a peasant, non-sponsor I am without such features. Or edits either. :)

I forgot to point out that the OU defense held the horns to 23 points. While the blocked punt certainly counts, it is not an offensive score. Horns certainly won the special teams battle. That fake punt was huge as well.

What happens if WVU runs the table except for a loss to OU? It's possible. https://www.espn.com/college-football/team/_/id/277/west-virginia-mountaineers How does that play out?
Offense moved the ball down the field, which was the important factor in blocking the punt.

2008 all over again - the best team doesn’t play in CCG or the national championship.

Really?? It took a Blowu education to figure that out?? Impressive. Since you're so good at pointing things out, how much does 3 turnovers affect the final score??

There is a speed difference between the ou d and the Texas D. I wish for the Mack years where we craved speed, speed, speed. Just reference the db & lb in the 2000's. Now I believe Anthony Hill fits that model and it appears Malik Mohamed and D Williams also fit that. Now can pk do anything with that? Hoping we see more and more speed hit the field. Have to give kudos to gabriel as he is a very accurate passer, very similar to what Colt and Sam Bradford were back in the 90's. When you throw a good ball thats easy to catch and also allows the receivers to catch in stride, it just changes the whole outcome. When QE played Cade Klubnik in the HS championship game 2 years ago, you could see Cade had that same style. Oh well, lets hope for some fire eating attitudes to embrace the loss and go kick some b12 arse!!! Unless we do that, there is no rematch.

OUBubba, I found the Big XII tiebreaker rulles - Tiebreaker Procedures - Big 12 Conference (big12sports.com). I got a headache trying to follow the procedure - hope you can figure it out better than I. We may need lawyers to decipher all the rules! :)
It looks like if you're both one loss teams, it will be winning % against common opponents (Tech, TCH, Houston, BYU, Baylor). If you both have two losses it will be who beat the highest ranked common opponent, if that doesn't do it then it would go to the common opponents.

Now, to the post about the lack of speed on UT:
I think our DB's are a little more aggressive/physical. They have ramped that up significantly from the recent past. Our DL is much more physical. I give credit to Jerry Schmidt and BV for that. 7 months isn't long enough to initiate that change from the Riley/Grinch "program".

On the UT defensive side the only thing that stood out to me was that your edge players weren't the same level as your two hosses in the middle. Otherwise I thought the defense played physical and aggressive. They were really two teams that were very close to one another. OU relies more on precise passing and UT on RPO's with longer throws. They both want to run the ball. Your TE was not himself.
