UT vs Washington Preview

Ewers is a lot better than many people give him credit for.

Something I've been arguing here all year in the game threads. Ewers is producing at age 20 what Penix is doing at age 23. Ewers doesn't have their legs of course but he's blowing away Vince Young's and Colt McCoy's passing stats at the same age.

Still 21 days away. Can't overstate the benefit for this year and next of getting in all these practices for a bowl game that actually means something, which means the practices will be good ones.

I have said the same thing more than once that ewers passing stats are better than Vince and colt soph years and it’s not even close. I have stood up and supported that young man all year and yes ewers is a lot better than SOME have given him credit for. I am proud of him and proud of this team and that won’t change regardless of what happens in the next game or two. Not only are they winning but they are doing it the right way. The culture has substantially changed in a very short period of time. Give sark and the coaches and the players credit for that. This will put us in the mix going forward. The culture was a disaster before sark got here. I am a proud longhorn again.

As Mickey of the Monkees once said "I don't need no stinking practice":yikes:

Truth,
and Ewers stats are better due to Sark's more wide open offense compared to Mack's offense

I don't know how you say such a thing about the Greg Davis patented East-West Coast offense. Those hitch routes on 3rd and 9 that lost 3 yds had the potential to go to the house every single time.

Watching the offense this year it seemed like, if Quinn had a little protection, there was always a receiver open somewhere. Worthy, Mitchell, Sanders, Whittington, Helm, or one of the RBs in the flat. We have serious weapons running around out there.

And it’s easy to forget that Ewers would normally be a true sophomore if he hadn’t reclassified. VY and Colt both redshirted so they were a year older and a year more physically mature. Ewers basically sat on the line for a year at OSU when he could have been getting another full year of rep’s under his belt in high level Texas HS football.

his progress this year has been nothing short of outstanding.

A point of concern raised by the 4 commentators in the bottom video:

UW's D front got good pressure on Bo Nix in the Oregon game. They're getting better at pass rushing.

Brother, you said it. Sark took a team that would not sing the Eyes of Texas into a team that was composed and focused even after a heartbreaker to OU this year. This culture is the best I have seen since DKR period. This culture also reminds me of the PNG and Permian and Plano teams that walked on the field and said bring it. I am in a happy place. I understand the doubters, which are many, that say Washington is a good pass offense and our pass defense is bad. But no one wants to see our defense stops the run and so our pass defense has to be and is the only choice. Washington has not faced a defense like Texas this year so let's see what happens. When the D line is rotating big bodies all game against them and putting the QB on his back. This team has proven they do not crumble from setbacks and play together for each other. This team is well-coached. This team plays to win for God and Texas. Look out below. Amen.

Joel Klatt doesn't like Texas much, huh?

I think we are the all round better team, myself. Has Washington played anyone who can take away the run like we can? Have they played anyone that can run it like we can?

If we come out and play physical on both lines, I like our chances.
