Ukraine updates

Outside of nuclear war, no nation could invade an armed citizenry who wants to be free. The warfare that would occur in Texas and the South would be too much.
I agree. I would expect that there are a ton of places outside of the south that would be challenging. California, New Jersey, Virginia, etc. They all have armed people from all classes from both parties who would step up. I mean hell we have this:

I mean I'd give 'em hell with my dull samaria sword.

So the Kremlin is now in the "both sides" war crimes argument. The talking points got sent out. War is hell. Invade a country and you open yourself up to the f**khead and around and find out option. It's a war crime but it pales in comparison to leveling a city.
Bubba, you destroy the enemy where the enemy is located. Ukraine decided to embed its military with the civilians inside the major cities. This was the defense plan. Very predictable. And because Zelensky won’t concede (as if he is actually the one calling the shots; he isn’t), the slaughter will continue.

Wow Candace, spitting fire. The American Right is finally getting back to their traditional roots of fighting foreign military interventions. The exception was the neocon infiltration and betrayal of the American Right after WW2 was over. It is the Right that will call out to America to avoid WW3.

Don't you think it was more about facilitating a free Europe than liberating Ukraine? It looks like Putin thought that he would do what he did with Georgia, Chechnya, Crimea, etc.

I’m afraid that’s wishful thinking. Candace has about as much influence on the status quo Republican neocons as Tulsi Gabbard has with the Democrat neocons. Republicans tend toward John Bolton types whereas Democrats hold up Jake Sullivan, Nuland, and Blinken. Choose your warmongering dimwit.

The good news is that this showed what a shitshow the Russian military machine was.
The West has poured billions of weapons into Ukraine for eight years, sent instructors to train battalions to NATO standards, only to see it all destroyed in 48 hours and then have the country gutted in four weeks. That’s the real shitshow.

It's those billions and standards that fought off a despot.

The meetings in Turkey could be Putin's best chance to get out of this colossal mess he got himself into. Let's hope for a peaceful outcome.

But, there may be a side to Putin that actually enjoys leveling cities and killing massive numbers of civilians. His ego may be bolstered and he may get off on it. What the Mad Dictator needs is a team of two dozen psychologists...

Zelensky may be open to a land for peace deal wrt the Donbass region land.

"Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Sunday he is willing to compromise with Russia on the Donbass region — because to try to force Russian forces completely from Ukraine would lead to World War III, according to Reuters.

The stunning reported development came as Ukraine’s top military-intelligence official said he believes Russia is backing off taking the country’s capital of Kyiv to instead focus on the southern and eastern portions of the country — to try to split the nation into two.

“[Russia] will try to impose a dividing line between the unoccupied and occupied regions of our country,’’ claimed Brig. Gen. Kirill Budanov.

This is an attempt to create North and South Korea in Ukraine,” the military chief said."

Zelensky willing to adopt neutral status to end the war

Amazing. Almost every word is wrong.

What you guys are hearing repeated over and over from MSM and the talking heads (retired generals etc) is basically the US version of Baghdad Bob. 90% will prove to be complete BS.

The National Socialists were anti-freedom like their Communist counterparts. Both were murderous at a level the world had not previously seen. Putin has gone down that path. If Putin were true, then he would not violently quash his political opposition and the free press. He would allow open and public expressions of dissent, he would permit a free and independent press. He does none of these things. This (at least former) Communist party member (possibly still a member…?) and KGB leader does none of these things. He is false.

His military really sucks too. Mexico’s army could probably kick the Russian army’s a$$. They’re pathetic.

If he’s smart, he’ll bail out now, declare it a Russian victory :lmao:, and have one of those stupid parades with a bunch of missiles on the back of trucks rolling through Red Square with thousands of cheering babushkas and armed political commissars encouraging their enthusiastic cheering.

NATO has flooded Russian neighboring states, particularly Ukraine, with billions of dollars of offensive weaponry.

Geez, what could Russia have possible done that might make the neighboring countries feel like they need to be heavily armed?

And because Zelensky won’t concede, the slaughter will continue.

This is like punching someone and then claiming the fault is their fight because they punched you back.

They'll claim that the neo nazis did it with Biden and George Soros' money.
Speaking of Soros--that guy could be a force for good in the world at this moment in time. He could probably (further) crash the Ruble, or crash it again as it recovers, and make himself $$$$$ in the process.

Exactly.

In the end, Ukraine will be demilitarized, and denazified

I didn't know you agreed so heavily with Antifa that claiming "We're only trying to stop Nazis" automatically made you in the right.

Looks like the Russians judged that there was not enough civilian carnage in Mariupol, so they brought in Kadyrov.

Genghis Khan is taking it too easy on the civilians, so we'll bring in Attila the Hun...

I was listening to an interview today. The lady who was in Grozny back in the 1990's pointed out that this is exactly what happened there. The Russians came in en masse and got picked apart by the Chechens initially. But they surrounded Grozny slowly and then burrowed in their big guns and leveled it. Then they went into the rural area to fight the chechens. She said the Ukrainians did the same thing. The large differences are that 1. They learned from the Russian strategy and once Russia started trying to set up around Kiev they have gone out to fight them there keeping them on the defensive. 2. Ukraine has much more military background and $ support than Chechnya had. 3. Urkraine has much more support around the world against Russia for the invasion.

A couple of bits of good news (at last):

"Russia's deputy defense minister said Moscow would "drastically" reduce its military presence near Kyiv, the Ukrainian capital, as Russian and Ukrainian delegations met in Istanbul on Tuesday for a fresh round of peace talks. Russian Deputy Defense Minister Alexander Fomin made the announcement in an on-camera statement from Istanbul broadcast on Russia-24, saying Moscow would also reduce its military presence in the direction of Chernihiv, north of Kyiv. The development suggested some progress may have been made during the day's negotiations."

"...on Monday, Peskov clarified Moscow's stance on the use of nuclear weapons, saying Russia would only consider it if there is a threat to the "existence of the state in our country." But, he said, that "any outcome of the operation (in Ukraine), of course, is not a reason for usage of a nuclear weapon."
