Trouble in Paradise?

Not surprised by O'Connor, but he would have been a horrible choice.

Stunned by Heefner's rejection
There is something in the Mountain Creek Lake water that creates something. When they were recruiting me in 1969 there was a strange vibe that my gut told me to stay away.

uta,

Have they ever made Loop 12 four lanes down that way.

Yes it has been several decades since I drive down there.

SH,

I'm sorry to admit that I don't know for sure. I normally get off I-20 at Spur 408 and exit at Illinois Ave. to see my aunt. 408 is three lanes, but I'm pretty sure Loop 12 does go to four lanes after the merge with 408 going towards Irving.

IIR, Mountain Creek Lake is closed to fishing due to severe heavy metal contamination from the naval air station.

("little brother " as in getting knocked to the side or knocked down.)

Q: Why did we not get a law school for so long?
Why did it take so long to get into AAU?
Why does tu get a much larger share of the PUF fund?
Why does tu get the benefit of the doubt by the ncaa, always?

From Longhorn Dave

A: because aggie had first choice.

I wonder how much aggy cultism and weirdness factors into other coaches hesitation to go there. Probably the biggest thing right now is the Jimbo disaster BUT for sure with so many other schools having seen and publicized aggy weirdness it could be a factor. Maybe sec sec sec unmasking aggy was nota good thing for aggy

^^^ after what, 15-20 years in the SEC, I'm confident you could take a poll of students, fans, players, coaches and perhaps even academia at every one of those other universities and get a 75% or higher that says aggy is weird and does weird **** nobody else does.

I think it is more about their track record of failure. Jimbo was a disaster. No record of sustained success.

The "cult", the "weirdness", the crap that makes no sense to any sane human being, and the financials are all factors, BUT at the top of the list is the string of absolute morons they have hired as ADs, the current one being perhaps the worst. Few if any, and ZERO quality coaches will work for Trev. The sooner they find his replacement (if they finally make a good hire), the sooner they will gain some respect.

For another reference, look at Alabama Cow College. One good year since the Buster Brown fiasco and still not where they want to be. Kinda goes with being a "cow college".

irl I could not get into UT any longer. Top 5%-6%? One of my kids could have. Top 10% (aggy) is doable for smart (not genius types) people who still so sports, music, whatever. Not a huge fan of the new trends, so I don't get into the SAT score peeing match

And USNWR just raised A&M's ranking ten spots.

A&M is making a serious run at the kind of kids that made Texas great, & they are doing a fabulous job of it. TCU, OU, et al have been earning their living off of our kids that couldn't get in Austin for various reasons, most of which were faculty & politically driven. I fear what will happen if our admission policies don't change, but then, I won't be around to see it happen.

Same here with a grandson. Unfortunately, he is going to ou for their aviation program. [If you ask his mother and grandmother (my wife) that is better than going to the Air Force Academy. If you ask me, he needs the AFA discipline and experience.]
