Not the 1st Texas name I expected to see, but not a shock either. Reality is she was pretty disappointing this season. Hope she can find success elsewhere.Deyonna in the portal.
Dee actually has two more years of college ball, as she redshirted her true freshman year then played three seasons plus she has the extra COVID year. She definitely has a chance to regain her form and continue to improve if she chooses the right program and can stay healthy. I hate to lose her but if I'm being honest I think she's making the right decision.Sigh. Deyonna was a first team All-Big-12 player starting at the four last year. With the return of Moore, she either comes off the bench or starts at the five. Most likely Texas will have a true five player to start at that position next year. And, if Moore's knees improve, she will likely play more minutes than last year. So, with the reality of Texas' roster, it makes sense for her to transfer. But I am still bummed! I loved her game when she was at her best. I loved her personality. I wish the best for Deyonna. She deserves a place where she can start and play major minutes. Hope she can stay healthy!

Hopefully she chooses a program where she will be needed in a full-time starting role. I think that would be helpful in her continued development both physically and mentally. I want to say that perhaps she and Chevalier were pretty close friends as freshmen, so perhaps Houston might make sense... especially when you consider Dee's parents were at pretty much every game and they live in the Houston metro area. I'm definitely wishing her all the best!

Agree that this is a possibility. I suggested this to the friend that broke the news to me today. Pearland is basically Houston anymore, and she seems to be very close with her family. Wishing Deyona well.
She'll definitely get a lot of interest no doubt... I just hope she chooses the right program for what she needs in her continued development.Well, maybe, to be close to family. But I think schools with more recent success will be calling. A lot of schools would like a power forward with Dee's athleticism and skill.
This is a big loss. It says a lot that we usually had Dee handling the jump ball duties, even against taller players. She did a great job for the most part even when she had to play the 5 and was a great rebounder. It was just a matter of her staying healthy. Looks like Justice Carlton just found more minutes. Not surprised by Gaston being in the portal with Moore being the starter at the 4. It's a big loss because of Gaston being a really good versatile player. She could play the 4 and 5. Texas now as to try to replace quality depth with Hadi and Gaston in the portal. They need a backup 5 player. My guess is that the transfer from Kentucky will get minutes.
T. HerronMust of missed something...who is the Kentucky transfer?
That lots of programs are interested in her services? That's my guess.Need a clue sheet to guess as to what that all means
