Transfer Portal 2024

I also went on instagram to check on Beers. Didn’t see Blair but did see a lot of coaches from other teams and players.

Well that’s a surprise. Guess there’ll be room for a few transfers after all. Sorry to see her go. Sure seemed to have a lot of injuries. Bad luck that kept her from fulfilling her potential.

That’s honestly shocking. One of the last people I expected to hit the portal. Hate to see her go but there is room for a transfer and many good post players to choose from. I assume that’s why Blair started following Beers on instagram yesterday.

Gaston has been snakebit with injuries for most of her career so maybe a change is what she needs. Hope she has an injury free season to show more of her potential.

I do hate to see her go though.

Really surprised / disappoited that she has chosen to portal out! Loved her style of play and production when she was healthy. Hope she lands on her feet and is productive and healthy! Good luck 5!!!

Sigh. Deyonna was a first team All-Big-12 player starting at the four last year. With the return of Moore, she either comes off the bench or starts at the five. Most likely Texas will have a true five player to start at that position next year. And, if Moore's knees improve, she will likely play more minutes than last year. So, with the reality of Texas' roster, it makes sense for her to transfer. But I am still bummed! I loved her game when she was at her best. I loved her personality. I wish the best for Deyonna. She deserves a place where she can start and play major minutes. Hope she can stay healthy!

I don’t know why I’m surprised by any comments on here anymore. I guess having high expectations that don’t get met is better than having low expectations to begin with.

Best of luck to Dee. All I ask, is anywhere but LSU please. That woman doesn’t deserve her.

Dee actually has two more years of college ball, as she redshirted her true freshman year then played three seasons plus she has the extra COVID year. She definitely has a chance to regain her form and continue to improve if she chooses the right program and can stay healthy. I hate to lose her but if I'm being honest I think she's making the right decision.

Hopefully she chooses a program where she will be needed in a full-time starting role. I think that would be helpful in her continued development both physically and mentally. I want to say that perhaps she and Chevalier were pretty close friends as freshmen, so perhaps Houston might make sense... especially when you consider Dee's parents were at pretty much every game and they live in the Houston metro area. I'm definitely wishing her all the best!

Agree that this is a possibility. I suggested this to the friend that broke the news to me today. Pearland is basically Houston anymore, and she seems to be very close with her family. Wishing Deyona well.

Well, maybe, to be close to family. But I think schools with more recent success will be calling. A lot of schools would like a power forward with Dee's athleticism and skill.

Not surprised by Gaston being in the portal with Moore being the starter at the 4. It's a big loss because of Gaston being a really good versatile player. She could play the 4 and 5. Texas now as to try to replace quality depth with Hadi and Gaston in the portal. They need a backup 5 player. My guess is that the transfer from Kentucky will get minutes.

She'll definitely get a lot of interest no doubt... I just hope she chooses the right program for what she needs in her continued development.

Perhaps it’s time for her to move on if she feels that her game is as good as it is going to get with Texas. Vic apparently thought highly of her since he was recruiting her even when he was at Mississippi State. Maybe she just wants to have fun her last year and play at a program that has less pressure and expectations. Don’t know where that might be but good luck to her.

This is a big loss. It says a lot that we usually had Dee handling the jump ball duties, even against taller players. She did a great job for the most part even when she had to play the 5 and was a great rebounder. It was just a matter of her staying healthy. Looks like Justice Carlton just found more minutes.

For sure we’ll see a couple of new bigs arriving. Gaston and Faye gone. Carlton will help but inexperience and knee are issues. If Jones were on one of her several hurt spells, it would be Moore, Muhammad and Carlton. Very thin indeed. Will be interesting in who Schaefer brings in.

She wasn’t ranked very high in the 2023 class (mid-80s) but I was impressed by what I saw of Hunter. Feel bad for Oregon State - enjoyed their run in the tourney but have been decimated by the portal and it sounds like it’s going to get worse.

Sad to see you DeYona go. It's disappointing that this decision wasn't made prior to the end of the season (like for Hadi) so that Gaston could participate in Senior night festivities. She played here 4 years and didn't get to be honored. Several others have played less years at Texas and were honored in front of grateful home crowd.

Makes me wonder if something changed recently in arriving at this decision.

Laila Phelia started following Aaliyah Moore on Instagram. I don't see Moore following Phelia, but perhaps it's a refresh issue on my end.

AMO is at top of followers on Phelia’s Instagram. Others such as Rhyne Howard, UCLA WBB, and lots of other basketball players such as Jaden Owens on there. Need a clue sheet to guess as to what that all means
