Transfer Portal 2024

Definitely got the size and skill set we could use, but she allowed herself to get terribly out of shape in the year that she sat out of basketball. I don't know whether or not our staff would be interested in someone looking to transfer to a fourth school anyway. I believe she's got two years of eligibility left with the COVID year.

Super hard pass on Gusters. She can't even stay on the court to play defense. NO WAY.

Forward to about the 19:40 mark... WVU coach Mark Kellogg makes some really good arguments about the timing of the portal opening.

I like this coach. Was very impressed with his team in, I believe, the covid bubble tournament for the ‘20-‘21 season.
Yes, they took Nell Fortner's Georgia Tech squad, which was a #5 seed in that tournament, to OT before barely losing to them.

That's a tough first round matchup for WVU against Princeton.

I guess I'm getting ahead of myself with predicting that WVU will play Iowa as Princeton will certainly be a challenge for WVU. I'm looking forward to seeing Quinerly and Chen compete on the same court.

Season ending performance review must not have went so well! This is funny!!
:smh:
I can see her going closer to home and hopefully to a smaller school. She is not a D1 athlete physically or mentally. Not sure she would find what she’s looking for even if she had unlimited eligibility and transfer allowances.

Another player whose skills didn't quite match what her ego said she could do.
Yep, I mean what is she trying to accomplish? She's not going to get a bunch of NIL, not going to have an WNBA career...she should just get a good, free education.

Well, she blew that opportunity when she left Texas for Tech. Now she could get a free, mediocre education if she stays put in Lubbock. Who knows what educational opportunities will be available at her next pit stop?

Yes, totally agree, and think she and many of these multiple transfers are unrealistic, even delusional. Chevalier gave up all the academic benefits of The University of Texas and a degree from a highly ranked, internationally recognized university.

Random musing: I learned while working at universities ...There are world class teachers and scholars everywhere - someone who is famous and appreciated in their field. Corollary is that we know there is someone sitting in a classroom at a prestigious university thinking "I can't believe my parents are paying big bucks for this idiot professor." It is often luck as to which version you get. A good education can be found on many campuses, but of course I think the one available at Texas is the best!

I feel sorry for the young woman. Between a new coach and COVID, she was dealt a bad hand. Too bad her parents weren’t able to guide her better in the departure process. Burning bridges by trashing Texas on her way out was clearly the wrong way to do it. IMO (which is worth nothing here) she should have followed Karen to UTSA.

OK St loses another - 6 now - freshman from Australia Mia Galbraith.
Interesting. When Jacie Hoyt arrived and went 21-12 her first year, I thought it was one of those diamond in the rough finds of a coach. But then to just switch suddenly to 14-16 and then having 6 players exit tells you that maybe she's not a good chemist in mixing in new players. If you then look at her Kansas City record it's like a wave of up and downs years. So.....hmmmm.

I didn’t get the sense that she was being pushed out by the team or the staff—I don’t recall that any of us thought that. I’d have been okay with her staying, as she was kinda what we needed in terms of spelling our lead guards. Wish she hadn’t ended things so badly, and that she HAD followed Karen instead of going to gerlich. I think signing with double-t was an exclamation point on her trash talking departure, almost like she knew that would really “get Vic good.”

Who knows, maybe she lands with Karen at UTSA for her last college hoops hoorah.

It'd be really nice if Ta'Niya Latson fell in love with the Moody Center this weekend, and wanted it to be her home court. ;)

On the surface, this sound like a much better method as long as, once entered, everyone is allowed the same number of days to make their decision.
