Training Camp

After transferring from Wyoming, getting injured and out all last season, I'm anxious to see what WR Isaiah Neyor can bring to the table.

Big frame @ 6' 3" 215 lbs. will be a matchup problem for teams with shorter DB's... just like Sanders, Worthy and Mitchell will be.

Wow, Worthy is absolutely gonna tear things up this season!!!
I hope so, but I think it'll be more of a season of spreading the wealth. Texas hasn't had this much talent at WR in, well maybe ever. I know the big 3, but they didn't have 3 more Freshman behind them that were almost another big 3. Gonna need it with no Bijan and Roschon anymore.

Well, its gonna be pick your poison for the D with our TE Sanders & 3 WR package - Whittington, Mitchell & Worthy. Somebody is gonna be open on virtually every pass play. I suspect we will also see a healthy dose of short passes out of the backfield to Brooks & Baxter.

It also keeps them from stacking the box to stop the run.
So I think you're going to see plenty of running plays as well.

So I would expect Ewers is working hard to become proficient in recognizing blitz packages, reading coverages, and checking down to the open receiver; and not get locked on one receiver —take what the defense gives the offense.
He must have a competent O-line to give him 2-3 seconds at least most of the time.
And there is a stable of highly skilled RB’s to take heat off the passing game—keep opponents honest. Our O is going to score. And score. And…
Oh, and if our D can hold teams to an average of 20 points per game then we win 10 games minimum. Coach K needs to prove he is the man this year.
I am pumped. The opener can’t get here soon enough!

As a former O-lineman (Rt Guard), 3 seconds is an absolute #. Anything less (except on certain specially designed plays) & the O-line is NOT doing its job.

RB pass pro is likely our weakest link.

Agreed - there is no deep threat if QB does not have time on play action, for example.

Morice Blackwell suffered a torn MCL but only expected out 2-4 weeks.
The first significant injury of the season. Blackwell is considered a key backup for needed depth at the position. Gbenda it is then for start of season. Bama game is only 2 weeks away (hard to believe). Hopefully Blackwell is back at full speed by conference opener.

^^^You make a good point. RB's must find a way to step up. That (RB pass pro) totally slipped my mind. But you are absolutely right. RB's must slow blitzers; and help a lineman every now and than.

I am thinking Worthy is going to have a great season. Very hard to guard, gets separation, fast, runs routes that challenges defenders, and has that dog in him. He runs mad after the catch. Plus, we've got others that can get open. Rice is going to get burned and I don't mean on the stove.

I thought he handled the Yormark question well but for some reason he's still getting dragged for the response. I'd love to see how the media would fawn over Stoops if he gave a similar answer and was still HC at OU.
