Training Camp

Is Jake Major stronger? If so that would be a huge improvement. Who is the back up center?
 
Majors getting some challenges and the coaches love it as it raises everyone's play level.

I suspect Majors will be named the C starter before or
by the end of fall camp.

The 3 BU's that are part of the 8 Flood feels good about are Campbell, Williams and Neto. None are centers. If Campbell can beat out Hutson then Hutson could slide over C, but I don't know that he's a big upgrade.

Neto also needs to beat out Stroh. As Burton (not that he knows everything) says Stroh is neither strong nor athletic, he's just a big guy that can get in the way. No push. Probably 1/3 of the reason Texas ranked so low on short yardage situations last year. Having Neto and Campbell, who the so called experts say can get a push, should help that stat a lot. And the push has to get better because we certainly know the RB situation. I just don't know where a significant improvement at C is coming from.

personally, I want the meanest strongest linemen with a chip on their shoulders playing. I want the ones who will step on you on their way back to the huddle. I want the ones with the best push creating holes for the rbs.

that's a big strong dude. I hope he uses his head when rushing the QB along with his strength. Got to get the blocker off balance so that he can scrape off and get to the QB. Don't stand there and play pattycake with the blocker. He's got so much potential. If he gets 10 sacks he is a first round draft pick.

Have Collins and Broughton ever been the first names mentioned as standouts before? Hopefully Bo has lit a fire under their a**es. Maybe they know it's their NFL boom or bust year. If these two step up it would be a huge win for the defense.

I recall Broughton mentioned last year as “stepping up and playing disruptive”, but with Sweat, Murphy, Coburn, and Ojomo playing well, it wasn’t critical for Broughton to play well.
 
Small injury update...

- 247 reported last night that DT Sydir Mitchell had a lower leg injury from being rolled up on, and he would need an MRI. TFB added that he was back at practice this morning, so it may be nothing in the end.

- TFB saying RB Savion Red left practice this morning and returned to the sideline with his arm in a sling.

- WR Xavier Worthy left practice early as well, but TFB believes this was a stomach bug issue he's been battling similar to what RB Jonathan Brooks had.
