this tiger didn't go crazy

Also, there weren't "scores of people" along the way. The articles state that there were only around 20 people in the entire zoo at the time.
Sheesh.

i seriously hope none of you internet tough guys truly believe that a teenager deserved to die for teasing a tiger.

No, i like to think of it as natural selection. this tragedy should go down as another chapter in that book that shows incidents of stupidity in which people die. if these 3 kids were taunting the tiger and assisted in its escape, they are probably too dumb to be breeding more humans anyway. what kind of parents will they make. they will end up being those people i can't stand...taking their kids to an R rated 10:00 movie, talking loud and being obnoxious at a movie, allowing their crying child to sit in a crowded restaurant and ruin everyone else's meal....cats are very intelligent and obviously can display vengeance in a big way.

are you really so confused how a tiger could track the trail of blood from the superficial wounds to find the bleeding prey? as for why the tiger might pass up other patrons along the way... why waste effort on catching healthy prey when you know you have a wounded one nearby that will be an easier catch. watch some nature shows and you won't sound quite so uninformed.

the nature shows are examples of hunts, this cat was going after these dudes to kill them...i don't think this was a food issue.

Natural selection is just an ignorant argument.

It was a tragic accident, we still do not know what happened.

Young people do risky and stupid things, should they die for it, no.

I imagine their friends and family are quite upset about this and would like prayer instead of pompous internet commentary.

It was tragic and an example of human arrogance in the harsh reality of a natural world.

don't feel bad for their family, they will probably sue the zoo regardless of the findings of the investigation resulting in higher ticket prices, and perhaps the removal of the big cat exhibit, preventing the joy of thousands of other children from experiencing the wonders of the world.

Yes, kids do stupid things, some dumber than others.

No one deserves to die but i cant feel too sorry for some idiot ******* with a dangerous animal and getting killed by it. The zoo is to appriciate the animals in our world, not to taunt them.

i did feel bad watching video of abc interview with the kid's dad. turned it off halfway after stupid questions started being asked though. "do you know if your son was aware of how dangerous tigers are" or something stupid like that.

Whoops!

"The wall of a moat that surrounds the enclosure from which a 350-pound tiger escaped on Christmas Day was actually far shorter than San Francisco Zoo officials thought and what national standards recommend, authorities said today.

In measuring the area, Mollinedo said, his staff found that contrary to information they had on file in their office, the moat wall was 12 1/2 feet high - about four feet lower than is recommended as a national standard by cat experts."

We've all that "oh ****" moment when we're doing something stupid and we realize there is going to be a problem. I'm guessing these guys had the all-time "oh ****" moment and expression on their faces.

here is a video of a tiger attacking some guys on an elephant after they shot (and missed) at her with a dart gun. the reaction by this tiger is probably similar to the one at the zoo.

Are you saying there is a 12' wall (doable) with a 15' wide moat, and a 20' wall surrounding the grotto? I can see a tiger easily catching the top of the 12' wall catapulting himself across and on over the 20' wall especially if he had snagged his leg.

I do not think the families should become millionares because these young men were taunting the tiger. They have to be responsible for their own actions.
